Sub stopped playing the other day. Its given me a good chance to really let my splits shine on their own, but I guess I wouldnt mind having some sub-bass back! :P

So today i popped the boot and had a look. Turned on the stereo, amp worked fine, sub worked too. But as soon as I turn the stereo up to anything at all loud, sub cut and and amp says CURR on the screen (digital Alpine monoblock).

Everything seemed to be connected properly still. I just assume this meant a current issue and looks like its time for another battery? (the current one IS at least 3 years old! lol )

The 4 channel Eclipse amp running the splits is working as per normal by the way....

So yeh, up for another battery?

it could be the battery,
may mates car done the same thing, his problem was his wiring he had used 8 gauge on an 1000wat amp so i convinced him to change it to 4 gauge, and now it works fine, thats all i can say, i think i might leave it up to one of the experts on here

has this only started to happen now?
how old is the amp and what type of power wiring you running?
sounds like a drop in voltage

The amp is only about 2 years old - Alpine MRD301 digital monoblock.

Its running at 4 ohms at the moment, only driving one dual 2ohm sub, and gains are set pretty low. So its hardly breaking a sweat.

Ummmm its running 4 guage wire into the cabin where it splits into two 8 gauge cables for the 2 amps (one under seat and the monoblock in the boot). And as i said, the amp under the passenger seat is working A OK.
