Hello,
My 99 Diamante (Verada-Magna) is in need of a coolant flush. I was wondering if anybody has tried a flushing tee, like the Prestone Flush N Fill Tee. The cost is like $3.99 from any auto parts store here in US. It is a tee that you splice into one of the heater hoses, then connect the garden hose and flush the system with water until it flows clean out of the radiator pet****. Has anyone ever flushed their coolant this way or any other way?
Also, when they say heater hose, they are talking about the one going into the heater core, or the one that goes out of the heater core? They are fairly hard to reach (I have bypassed heater core , so my hoses are connected). Let me know if I am on the right track? Does this sound safe to use? Is there any type of bleed valve to get all of the air bubble out of the system after refilling with fresh coolant?
I tried searching but have not found a complete thread about how to do this kind of flushing...
Thanks.

Some may know, as in my previous thread... I found out the last owner bypassed the heater core. Are those the heater hoses (I circled them red in the pic)? There is a brown pipe that connects both hoses (bypassing the heater core), could I stick a flushing tee in there? Or should I just disconnect a hose and put the hose in there to flush the system out? I know I have a million questions... THANK YOU GUYS FOR ALL THE HELP!

hey mate, yeh those red circled hoses are your heater hoses bypassing the heater core.
coolant flush, im about to flush my radiator too. never used one of those products or anything similar. if you wanna clean the cooling system first, just pour in a coolant cleaner from an auto shop and run the car for about 15 minutes. otherwise you just need to disconnect the top or bottom radiator hose (whichever you prefer) and throw a garden hose on the end and turn it on for a few minutes til its all cleaned out. then refill! easy as

But this wouldnt actually flush whatever is in the block though would it?
Personally, I drain the radiator, disconnect hoses, then i find the 2 drain holes for the block (workshop manual will show you), remove the bolts and run the garden hose through there.

I was scared to mess with those bolts, as I hear horror stories of the heads snapping off? Is this myth? Did you have any problems removing the two engine block bolts? Did you loc-tite then torque them to spec? Are they easy to access with wrench from under car?
Thanks.

No dramas with bolt heads.
Did not bother with lock tite or torque settings.
Easy to access with a wrench and workshop manual.

Thanks for the info guys. Ill have a look. Did you put the hose where the thermostat is to flush the block? Anybody have problems with air? Is there a bleed valve?
Cheers!

Just take the thermostat out (make sure you have new gasket to re-install it) and put the hose on high and have a good blast.
Re: Air bubbles - refill with coolant, run car with radiator cap off until thermostat opens topping up as necessary. Also, run with the heater on full whils doing this (if you have a heater :bowrofl: )

A few things to be wary of.
Your heater core maybe stuffed and when you run fluid through it if it is stuffed the fluid will end up all over the carpet.
I just took the bottom hose off the radiator and stuck a hose in to flush out the Block, just kept doing it till it came out clear.
When finished give the bottom hose a squeeze or three and watch any air bubbles pop out.
Lastly if your really not sure or confident, take it to a radiator guy!
