I am thinking of putting on a nardi wheel i have had for ages but i have always thought aftermarket wheels can look a little scrawny compared to originals. I have not seen an aftermarket wheel on a 3rd gen and was hoping someone might have pics. I have held the wheel in place and it looks ok but you never really know until the old wheel is off and the boss kit is on. I dont want to waste my $$ on buying a boss kit then decide not to use it.
anyway here is a pic

Its also defective for not been circular and is illegal if the original steering has an airbag.
Plus you can see the ugly steering wheel hub.

I love the Nardi wood/leather wheel on my KJ2 Verada GTV. Try to get one of those. Nice and thick with slim airbag centre.

No airbag so no drama
Did matty j mean the dials were defective or did he mean "dialing 1800 defect"???

I think if i put the wheel on i will paint the column black so it blends a bit.
I will just wait for pics of other members wheels and have a look
Cheers

The Golf GTI no have full circular steering wheel, or is it excepted because it is a production fitment?

That is a left hand drive version not for sale in Australia. The australian version has a full
circle steering wheel. ADR states that a steering wheel has to be a full circular one. The
problem with having a flat spot is that there is a tendency to miss the steering wheel
during a turning manouevre and have an accident.

I acknowledge what you're saying, however, this one here is a Aussie delivered 2005 GTI and it has the same wheel.

When driving a car, doesnt it require at all times to have at least one hand on the wheel??... Therefore no matter what part ur holding you will still have control??... I see what your saying about the flat spot, but its still part of the steering wheel...

When it was stated that it need to be a full circle, I was under the impressin you can't have a F1 wheel fitted (top n bottom cut off)

missile switch turns the system on then once yur on 100% throttle the nos goes in. its the perfect spot for the switches i feel. the button is for the purge

Apart from the obvious wank factor is there any good reason for nos purging?

all isotta wheels are now legal (so long as there installed by a certified person) and as far am aware they are still selling that wheel...
and for people that winge and complain about aftermarket wheels clearly havnt driven a car with one!

I like the more straight bottom of the wheel, but the main factor of me prefering my wheel is the size of the wheel.

But your wheel looks much more easier on the hands than my stock wheel thats for sure!

clear the lines of any air so u get a good mix of nos n fuel.

the wank factor is wat i got on there, the light which makes it light up red at night and the rapid fire so it fires out like a machine gun :D

i like a nice, plain, full circle wheel, none of that contoured, flat bottom crap :P (sorry fellas) so you can let it spin nicely in your hands, and drive it like a fork lift (you know with the little dicky wheel its got on em, but just spinning the wheel with the palm of your hand..... i know what i mean lol )

I just noticed that my steering wheel is not a full circular one. There is a kink at 7:30 and
4:30 where the bottom bit has a shallower path.

its the feel and the size, its easyer to manage a car with a smaller wheel, plus pricey wheels are contoured nicely and have better grab points
