just had a quote from Phillcom for $235 for a set of 4 Lovell low springs, and with them generally been around the $240 mark, why is it that shops charge $450 - $500 to lower the car when the part is so cheap (assuming they get them for $200 or so), is there other parts to it as well, because it seams to me that there isn't much labour behind it to charge $300 on top of the cost of springs...

otherwise they wouldn't make money... in all honesty a set of kings springs costs about $100 to pick up from the factory when you get them for trade. everything else is lumped on for the middle man. $245 isn't a bad price mate. i'd be all over that like white on rice my friend.

lmao, welcome to the wonderful world of Trading.... Ur prob payin a mechanic 90 per hour, they would have a minimum of say 2 hrs work, but when it comes to springs they can make up any bullsh!t to cover up the 300 odd bucks

my ex-store manager has left Coles and is in the process of opening up his own "The Tyre Factory" in Traralgon, when i save up ample $$$, then i'll take a nice cruisey long drive out that direction and see what can be done to my car for chips, i might try and twist his arm a tad and see if he wants to be a sponsor for AMC Victoria. might be a bit of a drive but he already assured me that i'll get very very cheap tyres through him... i wonder what i'll get the springs for, when i find out i'll let u guys know about it.

it takes about 3 hrs to fit springs and shocks...most poeple work on $55.00 + to do that sort of work..so you do the maths...

Or you can do it yourself. It's really not that hard.

But most of us are happy to pay for these things to be done.

yeh i know but my point remains in how dodgy there pricing is, i can buy springs of them 1 day and come back and ask em to install them and i would only pay $430, or i can get them to do both at in one transaction and pay $500.
