To all the fulla's out there with pods for their 3rd Gens.. What else do I need to buy.. as a friend gave me a Simota POD Filter and I wouldn't mind chucking it on the TF. Also.. What did people use as a heat shield and is there a cheap way to put the POD into the car without having to take out the whole air box?

I don't have a heat shield . Mine is just flange-welded to the left strut brace, and raised (custom fabrication) so it faces just above the battery. One day I'll get a little intake built into the bonnet, to give it some fresh air.

That pod will do nothing but cause chaos to your map sensor. You need the K&N Oval pod.

I have noticed that some people have installed a standard non oval POD filter into their 3rd gen's.. what about those people? Can't I do what they have done..?

There is nothing wrong with using other pod filters, I have tried different ones and found that they did noting to the MAP sensor.

ive said it before and ill say it again. oil based pod filters must be enclosed inside an engine bay to pass (all that i know of but some may be different) state regulations. you will only get a defect for a pod filter if it is open in the bay.

you will need a 5" round adapter flange... check out GSA Suspension at Slacks creek.. (GSA Wholesale Suspension) they have one... and thats where I got my round one from...
You will have to "MAKE" up some sort of bracket to keep the pod from sagging.... (like mine does.. :D )

heatshields dont mean squat. they have to be sealed.

Ok.. Well, the POD he gave me was a 3" and according to all these places its too small. So I've invested in a K&N 6" Pod.. Anyone have a heatshield for one of these.. or anyone wanna make one for me?

I got a 5 inch simota pod on mine, but got my adaptor from autobarn in slacks creek, you need the five incher to do the job properly, the three inch just wont work dude, mine was an "mparts" adaptor, about $39 from memory.

Your's is a 4cyl though aint it? How much are the 5" PODs? Coz I got the guy to order in a 6".. but he said he'll only order on Monday. So yeah.. I'm now just contemplating a panel more then anything. The main question is how much are the 5" PODs and can anyone recommend a place to get one of them from.
Thanks
