Hi,

I've got an Aeropro wiring harness in my TJ Magna for my Pioneer headunit. It's got it's own ground cable with connector. Where would be the most suitable place to connect this ground to?

Cheers

Any screw that is nearby that has good contact to the metal chassis of your car. there are heaps behind the dash.

Yup, I used the one down the bottom to the left. There's usually a ground point for something (i think cig lighter light) already connected. If you have a multimeter it will make life alot easier :).

Using the same ground as the cigarette lighter ain't a bad idea...

I'll have another dig around the back of the dash tomorrow before work. By behind the dash, do you mean like where there's the hole in the firewall to run the amp power cable through?

At the moment, my headunit is grounded to a screw above the transmission well... I'm getting noise through my speakers and I'm 95% sure that it'd have to be the headunit ground. It's a crappy ground in a crappy location which I was hoping would be sufficient enough, but it ain't. Thought I'd be better off to ask what you guys did before I got too far ahead of myself.

I actually bought a multimeter today for the purpose of checking grounds. However I've got no idea how to use it :P Any advice would be much appreciated.

Ok flick it to the Omega sign (Greek letter or something? or is it alpha? cant remember)

And flick it to 200 as its the closest unit of measurement we need.
Make sure the car is turned off!
Checking resistance only works when there is no electricity flowing.
Stick one prong on one end and one prong on the other.
See what reading you get, Should be something like 0.05 or similar, i dunno i havent checked resistances in ages.

Take out the console arounf the Gearstick, and the are a few thick bolts directly onto the chasis, thats where mine is grounded! You can feed it inder the console to, you just may need to extend the ground wire..

I installed a Kenwood HU into my KJ Verada last week using Aerpro wiring harness adapters
The blue arrow in the pic below shows where i screwed the black ground cable
I've had absolutely no problems using this location for the ground wire :D
