Just got a msg from another member here (will3690), apparently his battery light is coming on above 3000RPM.

He is unable to get to a pc to ask, so Im asking on his behalf.

AFAIK his car is as follows: TF 3.0L 5spd, K&N Panel, CAI and exhaust.

Any ideas?

the battery light relates to the battery or the alternator

chances are, one of those are on the way out.

If the cars electrics start dieing, or the battery isnt charging up anymore itll be the alternator.

The light will come on when the voltage is either too low, or too high.
Usually can be traced to the alternator or battery like what Gerard said. Either the battery isn't holding charge, or the alternator isn't charging. Tell him to take his car to Autobarn and they'll do a free alternator and battery test.

Turn the headlights on for a couple of minutes with the engine off

Put a multimeter on the battery, turn off the lights and start the engine.

If the meter reads less than 13.5V the alternator isnt charging

If it reads more than 14.7V the regulator on the alternator isnt working. ( If the light comes on at higher revs this is more likely)

If it does read high take it to an auto elec or change the regulator or alternator.
If you drive it with the high voltage, turn on everything, lights, rear demister, fan etc to keep the voltage down and protect the battery. :D

Hey, Thanks guys for the help.

Thanks Luke (Gas_Hed) for posting this for me. I will get it checked out, sounds like the regulator to me... I recently blew mi 80 AMP fuse from mi batt to amps so i havent been running mi sound system, that may be the reason why its coming up now. A major drop in Current draw....

Thanks again.

i think its the alternator because i had a couple flat battries and no battery light.

Just a thought but you could check how tight your alternator belt is. Might be slipping as the drag increases with the higher revs.

if your got a big stereo ****ing crank it i wish i had high volt batt output dimming lights suck:(

hmmm sounds like a alternator problem, because i recently gotten my alternator reconditioned due to it not charging mi battery.
