Was just wondering how fog lights work on a TH Magna? How would you turn in on, on a stock car? Is there like a separate switch or it turns on when the headlights are turned on? Is there a difference with a car that comes with fog lights from mitsubishi and a car without fog lights but fitted in yourself?

Cheers

I guess what I'm asking is regarding those original fog lights from Mitsubishi. How do they work if they were factory fitted? Is there like a separate switch or something in the original car or there is a special stock that comes with the car if they are factory fitted?

Is it possible to get the original fog light and install it to look like it came from the factory?

Are the fog lights supposed to work like spot lights? Means you need a separate switch and they only work on high beams? If so how were the factory fitted cars with the fog lights set up?

Anyone ???

Cheers!

my cars got factory fog lights
i've got a switch on the indicator stalk to turn them on or off
sit just under the switch to turn the lights on

some foggies can be wired up with your head lights so they come on when you turn your head lights on, which is illegal
most people would install a switch to turn them on or off if they didnt come with a switch
my mate used to have a missle switch to turn his foggies on/off

Hi! So you are saying that there is a special stock for factory fitted head lights?

Does anyone know if this is the same for factory fitted fog lights on a TH Magna?

Cheers

The fog light switch is the same on a TH and a TL and most likely a TJ, you have an extra light spinny thing on the inside of the regular headlight stalk, they only turn on when u have at least the parkers are on, they will not turn on by them selves.

Err so if I were to install original fog lights, and in order to get my car looking like stock factory ones, I need to get hold of this light stalk???

Cheers.

well not unless you want it like a stock setup, just use the factory foggies, buy like a missle switch from rice-O-barn then hook them up to the switch!!!

on my Diamante, the foglights are independent of the normal light switch. so i can have the normal headlights off, but turn the foglight on which will turn on the parkers and the rear lights too.

it is a little annoying i cant just leave the foggies switch on all the time so they switch on/off with the main switch. since i have auto headlights, i still have to manually turn on and off the foggies.

Hi again all!

Was just wondering what are the laws with the fog lights in Australia especially in QLD. Are you allowed to use them at all? When can you use them and all that nots.

Cheers!

Thanx for that.
Now than why do I see so many people driving around with them on especially in the city? Actually I've seen them driving with them on in the day and night. All the time and its damn blinding. So my guess is that you are allow to have them on in the day and not at night??
Thank god it not Magnas I see with the damn fog lights on! Ha ha! Cheers!

As Mr Roberto said you are only supposed to have them on while driving in fog, hence the name. People think they are driving lights so they drive in the day with them on and even at night which is darn right stupid and irresponsible.

NSW's law states the use of foglights in adverse conditions only..:)

Qld rules for Foggies differ from cop to cop seriously, I used to use the foggies with parkers only, the Magna fogs dispurse a wider light then any other fog light that I have seen. Our local guy told me to use them with parkers so I did. Also you can use them when raining. Any other time you will get a nice little fine.

The fog lights that you have probably seen would be the falcons n commodores you could prob throw a few WRX's in there aswell. All these lights are driving lights, they are totally set up wrong for the use of fog lights, thats exactly why they blind you. When you drive on a well used road, take a look to the left and you will see the Solid White Line that runs the entire length of the road, this is called the "Fog Line", fog lights are designed in keeping this line visible in fog and rain. The lights are designed to point down and out, not straight ahead and blind people. (So next time you see a car with them lights on, just put ya high beam on lol)

Just saw a Madza 3 (I think) with those stupid foggies on!! I really hate them! Blinded me for a while! Why would you use those in the city when there are lights every where. For gods sakes you can even see without the headlight on!

I've decided to name a shame these people  !! Hee hee!!
I'll put their make, model and plate! Sort of like playing Spotted I guess!! Ha ha!!!
Maybe somehow someone here might know them!
I might even go one step further and take pictures!
I HATE THOSE FOG LIGHT PEOPLE!!!

Cheers!

The worst ones are excels/accents which have the single red rear fog light, i always see people driving day and night with those on, its so frustrating as it constantly looks like they are braking if ur not right behind them. IDIOTS!

Yeah I agree! My friend has one. But are those like a separate switch or comes on when the headlights are on? I think maybe change the cover to white should be better. I mean why a fog light in red? Too confusing.

Nah its on the headlight stalk, you just have to turn it one more click. Most people dont even realize, but a light on the dash does come up when they are on, i suppose they think that they are in fast and the furious and that extra red light gives them +50HP.

All rear fog lights are red as any other colour would mean something else.

Hi all!

Yeah just saw (was actually behind) an Excel (I think) along River Side Expressway (Brisbane) with the bloody back red fog light on. Man it was confusing and the fog light is actually brighter than the rest of the red lights at the back and caused me to put all my attention on it (dangerous).

Now I don't just hate fog lights in front but Excel and their rear fog lights! Hee hee!!
