g'day everyone
ok so im currently thinking about upgrading my current monoblock
i've got a alpine MRP-M350 monoblock
its a good amp but i need more power for my subs
it runs the two subs fine and sounds great
ok i've got 2 12" eclipse subs SW71242DVC.T4
they are dual 4ohm voice coils
rms at 450watts

i've had a look around at the local audio shops, got many different ways to run them and what amps to buy
i've got an idea what i need but just asking you's what would be the best way to go and what brands would you suggest?

heres what i've been told so far:
either buy another monoblock to match my current one (if i can find one, these are pretty rare)
buy a decent 2ch monoblock or
buy a monoblock that produces at least 900watts rms on a 4ohm load

any help would be great
cheers rob

The subs that i'm running are also both 450WRMS and i'm using an alpine MRD-M1005 this amp is rated at 1000wrms but it's actual reading on it's certificate is 1102wrms.. so already you've got more power than what you need! This amps will provide you with enough power to drive both of you subs.

Alternatively, and for similar price you could go for two MRD-M605 to run each sub. This amp is rated at 600wrms. This was my initial preference but i was limited with space for the layout i had in mind, thus the reason why i chose the single amp and ended up with the
M1005. I'm pretty happy however with the end result, both subs are reproducing nice clean loud bass

i've had alook at that amp and i cant use it
i need a amp that produces minimum 900watts rms on a 4ohm or 1ohm load
that is because of the way i have to wire up my subs

M350's are a dime a dozen, pop up for sale all the time for $200-250.

theres an Earthquake TNT 1000/2 for sale on Car AuDio Australia atm for $220, does 2x 350W RMS @ 2ohm, pretty ideal for your subs, typical Earthquake with a huge damping factor which is great for sub control, and cheap as :)

else a Response 800W mono would be a good choice as far as new/cheap stuff goes.

What about a JL Audio - 1000/1, set you back about $1500, produces a nice 1000 W rms @ 4, 2 & 1 OHM

how about the jaycar monoblocs? or too povo for ya, i run mine at 1ohm flog the snot out of it on hot days it under the seat with no airflow and still ive never had a problem with it, mine it the one rated to 820wrms, but look it up on car stereo australia, the guy who rated them said that they will probuce 1000wrms at 1ohm but his powersupply wasnt able to produce the voltage at the time... and you can get them for $280 :D or is its too crappy, they do a 1500wrms one too...

ok im think about getting that kicker that bob_saget has for sale
but i would like to have alittle boot space left for my tool box
although it is very tempting
and i dont think jaycar is povo i was thinking about getting that 1500watt one in 1ohm
