Wing off!

No contest!

rolliart

I'd say leave with wing. It might not be the best looking one out there but it defines the ralliart. without it all you'll have is just another magna (personal opinion though).

I have bee driving a ralliart for a while now and all i can say is this. i agree that at times it will block your view but all in one it's not to the point where you could say "****. i can't see nothing in the rear mirror". It is acceptable. As I said, i'm not the biggest fan of it but it is part of the ralliart and i would not take it off. :D

dainese

all noted. thanks.

appreciate the replies as well...

the lower deck of the wing actually blocked a following car's headlights, so they wouldn't blind you so thats good.

no wing looks hawt, have you considered replacing the wing with something smaller instead e.g. a VRX or Sports wing?

rolliart,
Is that red and black leather I see in your avatar photo? Custom job no doubt?

I dunno. I like the wing because its the ralliart look. Though i usually dont like big wings, I think it just suits the whole ralliart kit well, being absurd and all.

You know what would look phat, the boot lip extension style spoiler though i don't believe there are any that are readily available for Magna's so would likely be a custom job...

No wing.

Never liked them and never will. They have to be one of the most pointless additions to any family car...unless you drive like a maniac and enjoy cornering at high speeds with a wing that is PROPERLY configured.

I agree...it loses its ralliart likeness (ie no longer looks boy racer). But on the plus you gain in sleekness and fuel economy. De spoilering a car also makes it look that much lower to the eyes.

Matty_J
18-12-2006, 05:33 PM
i would leave it without the wing, yeh it makes the ralliart what it is, but thats not to say it looks good, so you have to decide if you want it to look hot, or you want it to look like a ralli-art!! but thats imo!!

just to throw m2c in.... i'm sort of in the same boat.... i don't have a wing (being a pov pack exec) and yes... it does look lower/sleeker/stylish.... but at the same time i feel like its missing something... hot as it may be... it seems lacking... maybe i'll get a big drift wing

being a ralliart... it sort of needs the wing to complete the look..... but its HELL HOT with out it...

In conclusion... i've added nothing to this thread except confusion.

try it without for a while and make up ur own mind... its you that drives it every day.

Pewter silver was the silver used from the TH models onwards, it replaced silver leaf (SQ paint code) that was used on models before the TH.

No ralliart magnas had a unique paint colour.

for a ralliart i would say leave wing on, with out it, it looks like a magna with a kit, although i do believe it looks better with out it, its a signiture item on the ralliart and i wouldn't touch it. as soon as u see it u know its a ralliart.

Leave the wing on. I toyed with the idea of taking it off, but taking the Ralliart wing off a Ralliart takes away the essence of what the car is. If you remove the Ralliart wing from a Ralliart it's just not a Ralliart anymore. It loses a lot of its appeal and just becomes a plain old looking magna. I would never remove mine.

fencer
19-12-2006, 05:23 AM
Yep, I've thought about de-winging many times. But, I'm with Disciple. If we'd wanted a go-fast Executive, then that's what we'd have bought and modified accordingly. The wing is certainly not the world's best taste, but it is part of what a Ralliart is.

I saw a BF Ford Falcon GT the other day without its rear wing, and it looked plain weird. It's the same deal with a Ralliart - you've got that big front spoiler, which then looks heavy and out-of-place without the rear wing to balance the look.

Leave the wing on and don't make it look like just another Exec with big wheels...

koma
19-12-2006, 06:34 AM
I'm with the keep the wing on camp.
To say you dont care what others think is a cop out, as you are asking what we think in this thread. Everyone cares what everyone else thinks.
If I was driving along and saw your car, i'd think it was someone who got the ralliart kit and badges and put them on an exec. I dont see the point in having the top of the line magna and downgrading it to look like a poorly modded exec.

VeradaBoy
19-12-2006, 06:40 AM
I'd leave the wing on too. As excess as some may find it too be, it adds a uniqueness to your car, making it look less 'stock' than it would without the wing.

well said. Almost all in this thread have agreed that the spoiler is kinda awkward, even those who have voted for it to stay on. To me, the car looks better without the wing, and thats all that would matter for me.

I've said it before, but for me the ultimate Magna would be a Ralliart, with no wing and a full VRX kit. Perhaps not financially practical though! :P

But hey, each to their own. Those with Ralliarts who like their spoilers, thats fine by me!

Take the wing off and keep it for when you sell the car.. I never liked the wing on the ralliart... I do like the look of the rest of the car...

If i ever bought a ralliart.. Wing and front bumper would come off!!... VRX front would be on the menu for me (But that is my opinion).. at the end of the day a ralliart is bought specifically for it's mechanicals not it's appearance... cos even with a bodykit, still looks like a magna!

Just a thought for those who have de-winged: what have you done about your centre high mounted brake light (ie. the one that was on the spoiler prior to TL's).

And if you left it off - what are the legalities of driving around without a high mounted brake light??

It's an ADR that your car must have a high mid mounted brake light, your car is defective if it doesn't have one (this applies only to cars after '93 i think).

Wow that vr-x rear spoiler really matches the ralliart kit perfectly!
