Yesterday at the local car wash I decided to clean the gutters. I aimed the high pressure at the gutters and was amazed by the amount of rubbish that flew out. The car leaked with the pressure of the water but once I saw the amount of rubbish I just wanted to clean it out. It was a warm day and the interior needed cleaning anyway...

Has anyone else ever cleaned their gutters?

yep every time I'm at the pressure wash place.

Most amazed at how much stuff comes out, especially on wagon; bit less on sedan.
And like my cars aren't even parked outside - undercover every night,
daytime they're usually at home or nowhere under a tree anyways.

I have a tf wagon and i am constantly amazed ath the amount of crap as well as the size of some of the bits and pieces. I am torn between the problem of leaving stuff in there and it becoming a magnet for rust and the problem of forcing water somewhere i shouldnt be while trying to blow it out. I guess i need to see how the gutters are designed and make an informed choice. Anyway for now i will keep blowing the crap out.
Speaking of rust has anyone ever had rust in their 3rd gen. I have never heard of it..
Cheers

Rust shouldn't be an issue in the 3rd Gen as they went through the same process as the US export cars. These have a 10 year perforation guarantee there, so it's all good for us in the domestic market.

Squirting water into the gap won't harm metal as the water will dry out (park in hot sun?).

vs

Having a buildup of spongey rotting vegetation is a water trap, its stays damp 24/7.

Yep, goodness knows how long there was crap gathering inside my gutters as to the amount of rubbish that came out recently... at first I thought it was purging thru the water gun lol

Tessa, I cant believe you still have the same quote of mine in your sig after what, over a year and a half? lol ;)

I am pretty sure Tessa is referring to the black strip that runs just over the top of the doors of the third gens... it is a little tight in there.

yeah Roof Gutters that reduce the rainwater dripping down onto the windows.

Crud also collects at plenum where the bonnet hinges sit, just blasted mine out day b4.

And in the engine bay where the chassis rails are (below brake on RHS, ABS on LHS) they
makes an excellent shelf for collecting leaves and dirt... gotta blast that out regularly too.
