Yeah but that's not the ECU under the dash (in the text and the pix) - its the BEM - Body Electronics Module. The ECU is between the console and the firewall, under the bottom of the heater.

thanks i have this problem with my wagon. it has stopped now but has happened a few times.

I had this problem and i think TZABOY had the same problem, easy fix, clean the plug behind the ignition barrel and straighten the conectors.

This has happend to my brothers TJ. when his batt was getting old..He put a new one and never done it since.??

If the battery voltage is too low, apparently the ECU will shutdown shortly after starting (if it starts at all).
That definitely wasn't the case with mine, as I replaced the battery, and it didn't make any difference.
My stalling problems were definitely caused by the wiring between the ECU and the BEM.

Mitsubishi dealers are very aware of the prob.
Mine fixed under warranty.
They cut out connecter and soldered wires..

I tried to get mine fixed under warranty - they replaced the ECU, but the problems came back 6 months later...
