Has anyone successfully made the Verada rear bumper corner lights (the rectangular ones) work/light up?
I think it would make for a cool look at night.
I'm guessing if the lights are there they must have been operational for other markets (ie. USA)?
I need to have a look behind those lights and see if there's any wiring there.
I did a search for this but couldn't dig up anything.

Hello,
The US Diamante uses those lights. I can take a picture later. You might be able to wire them up, as they may have the wiring leads.
I know on my 97 diamante ES, when I removed the gear surround there was wiring leads to a cig lighter that only comes on the LS. I ended up getting an LS gear surround with built in cig lighter and just plugged it in, worked a treat.
Cheers!

Here is a pic, just to make sure it is the light you are tallking about....
These go on with the parking lights +rear lights.
Let me know what is under yours when you remove it. I can remove mine and give you any information you may need. Let me know.
Cheers!

American cars require running lights on their cars. They have a yellow at the front corner and a red at the rear. That way, they are always visible from the sides and you know which way the car is facing. Should be law here too.
I did a conversion on my Capri Convertible and it looked great. I'm looking for the american components to do it to my GTV Verada. Will post pics as soon as it's done.
Interesting. Been wanting to do this as well. Although from memory both my front and rear
ones are yellow and definitely reflect light as can be seen in my sig pics.

Hey Meeookat, I have the US look parkers (running lights etc) on the front corners of my car at the moment. Page 3 of my cardomain page gives a 'how to' and photos.
You can see them from the front and side. However you would need to have the two piece parabolic headlights though.

KE to KJ Veradas already have the front parker lights in the corner which is visible from
front and side. The rear reflector on the side is a different story.

I had a look behind these lights today and there's nothing there
The inside of the lights themselves are silver so no light shines through
acmw22, can you please post pics of your lights so we can see what they look like from behind?

Hello,
I am on winter vacation up north for a week. I will post some pics when I get back.
Cheers.
Just noticed my rear ones don't have the two screws either side and also noticed the
centre 5cmx 1.5cm seems to be transparent as it is darker then the surrounding bits.

I wonder if you can buy the lights from somehwere in Australia considering that they were put in the Dimante's here before we exported them.
Must be somewhere you can get them.
Will ask around. If someone finds out if we can get them here, they should post where. I'm sure there are a lot of people who would be interested.
Also acmw22, Do the Dimante's use the parker in the side of the Front bumper as a running lights like our Verada's rather then the indicators next to the head lights that Billy Mason has wired up?
Here is a pic of ours but i'm sure you guys use orange lenses rather than clear ones like us. Is that right? Also, does the light on the front ones go right around because with ours, the clear lenses we use for our parkers only really throw light out forward and not right around as shown in the pic.
Thanks

It would be great if we could get some part numbers for these lights so we could order them
I don't know if Mitsu Oz would stock them but i'm guessing Mitsu USA should

The clear bumper running light on veradas ....diamantes use as an amber turn signal. The side markers have bulbs and wiring in them, here is someone selling some on ebay:

Hey there acmw22.
Does Mitsubishi stock them over there in the usa? If you had an accident and needed replacments, where would you get them from?
Those amber side ones on the front bumper that i took a picture of, are they just running lights for you guys the same as us or are they flashers/indicators as well?
Would you be able to take a pic of the front of your car with the running lights and indicators going? Would much appreciate it.
Thanks mate.

Firstly, sorry to cut in. I believe that the Diamantes have their running lights and indicators opposite to the Veradas.
The Veradas indicators next to the headlights are the Diamantes running lights, with the Veradas front bumper running lights, the Diamantes indicators.
acmw22 can probably post better photos of his car but here is some anyway:
From memory, the D front lights are the same as the V front lights setup wise. Only diff is
that in the US, front parker (running) lights must be amber in colour.

Yeh, if you could get part numbers or prices that would be great
This could even turn into a group buy if there's a lot of interest?

the two screw holes so I don't know how to remove them. Plus, I need ones for the front
as well (I have reflectors below my side indicators).

Hey there vlad.
I've got a bad feeling that the side running lights arnt avaliable for KW's.
I could be wrong and someone let me know if i am but i'm fairly sure the KJ's were the last export to the USA where the running lights are from.
I'm fairly sure that is why they KL's didnt have the big front and rear bars is because they wernt going to the USA where they are needed.
For memory there was a big outcry from Verada buyers that the KL looked too much like a magna with its Magna size bumpers so they designed the bigger bumpers for the KW's local market only to try and boost sales and this is possibly why there are no running lights avaliable for KW's is because we dont need them here and the car never went OS.
Also, here is the thread with the part numbers for the rear running lights for the KE-KJ's.

I stand corrected. Thanks for that vlad.
Does anyone know why they had the small bumpers on the KL's? Makes you wonder why they would bother.
Did anyone notice that the car in the link was only a 4 speed auto with leather and also that they have the good guage display like the KH's had.
I so much perfer the cluster display in my KH over the one in my KJAWD. Much classier in the KH i think.

Yeah, they only had the 4spd auto. Also, what do you mean about the cluster, isn't yours
the high contract 3-stage lit-up one. See my sig. Looks exactly the same as the Ds.
Also noticed that their tippy gate is also on the left and the stalks have not changed sides
as well but the dimmer and the clock settings have.

Well all ill be doing is piggy backing some cables from the wiring on the back of the tail light down to the light on the side. Well thats my idea anyway, will be getting them done by a pro, so he may have a different idea.

Hey Vlad (and other KL/KW owners), looks like you might still be able to do this mod on your Verada. Here is a pic showing the rear side marker lights in action on a KL/KW American-spec Diamante.

Doesn't look like any screws are holding it in (from the outside anyway), so it must be secured from the back somehow. All you gotta do now is try and find some of these for your Rada!

US Export market always had the large bumpers in all models. Due to o/s regulations. In Aus it was not necessary/compulsory. Market in Aus never did like the large bumper anyway (negative press reviews), in any of the previous Verada models, and is one reason they were not included on the KL. The large bumpers returned on the KW for cosmetic model changes, to distinguish it from the KL (bad mistake, coz the Aus market, in general, still did not like it).
Personally I like the KL bumpers over the KW, I think they went a step backwards when they released them to the Aus market. Bigger bumpers look too "Yankee".

Bah, dump a Rada on its ass and compare it side to side with a dumped Magna, and tell me which one looks better. The larger bumpers are the sexiest bit on the Radas IMHO and when viewed from the side make the car look sleeker whereas the Magnas look too square/have no character, they are just flat on the front and back.
Each to their own of course.

Lucky you! I've searched for ages to secure them 2nd hand but with no luck. Eventually, I decided to buy brand new and placed an order with Preston Motors who had them shipped from Japan (Part no. MR 296294) at a cost of $78.63. However, as pointed out in one of the earlier forums, they came without the plugs, so I had to buy (from Imlachs Auto Parts, Clayton) a pair of TE side indicators plugs, $30. Finally, got an auto-electrician to wire them up for me, $60. So all up, cost me just under $170 for this mod. I know it's no cheap compared to what Mohit paid for his, but hey, sometimes when you want something badly, you just have to fork out the money! Will post some pics of this latest mod soon.

i got the same lights from mits for $30 each took two weeks from japan, went down to U-PULL-IT grabed the same plugs (they are all the same trough the 2nd and 3rd gens) so doesnt mater what one u get it from, then pulled the boot carpet up, shaved the wires for the back lights, drilled 2 lil holes to poke the wires through then conected them to the taillights, their u have it all done for $60, but i was lucky U-PULL-IT didnt charge me for the plugs,
BTW, what ***** me of was that after i got them i found out that one of the guys i work with used to work at mits and has two pairs of the lil bumper lights which he gave me, so now i have four spair ones, if i had known he had them i could have saved $60..... also gave me some other spair parts, just got to conect them now.
PS, when i orderd the one from japan the guy at mits said their is only a few pairs left coz they dont make them anymore, or something like that

I got them from a wrecked 2001 Diamante in the USA. It was on Ebay and the auction had ended with no one buying the car (the front and drivers side was toast but the rest was fine) I was originally after the Diamante chrome rear garnish/reverse light assembly so I emailed the seller shortly after and asked whether they could send me the garnish assembly. Then I remembered the rear marker lights and sent a follow up email asking whether they could send me the rear markers and bulbs in the same package which they happily did.

Do you still have the spares? Also would these fit the KW series as I noticed that the rear
ones don't have the screws holding them as in KE-KJ. Anyone know how to remove the
ones for the KW to do the mods? I'm also after the front ones. On the front, I've got the
standard indicator at the front of the wheel arch and directly below that is a reflector
