hi all

Got the major timing belt service 5000km back and fuel econamy hasent been spectacular i took it back to the service centre and they said they cant find anything wrong with it and i just realised that i got some tyres the same day they were mechelin XM1 205 replacing my brigdstone stock tyres the new michelin better grip dry and rain but are noisyer but was wondering if this had caused my fuel econamy issue.?

while it's true that underinflated tyres provide greater rolling resistance and therefore detrimentally affect fuel economy, it's not going to be a big difference.

how bad has your economy become? also, are your new tyres the same size as the old?

i cranked all my tyres to 40 psi today hot tyres hot day ill have to check them on the next cold day and work out some sort of average but usually around 36 - 38 psi on an average day is the norm ??? i think but i usually check them when i fill up

its a fine line between over and under inflation

10 miles per litre is excellent economy. Thats 16km/litre or 6.25 litres/100km. You mean
it was 10km/ltr and now its 8 to 8.5 km/ltr.

Anyway, noticed on you profile that you have 17" wheels and you mentioned you have 205
wide tyres. I don't think there is a suitable 205 wide tyres for 17" wheels for use on a
magna.

Also, how are you measuring the economy? Is it off the trip computer or calculated using
kms travelled divided by litres filled? If former, then it is usually the case after a service.
The readings will eventually settle down. I know as before I had my first service the trip
computer was saying 12.5l/100km and after the service it went to 14l/100km and now its
back to 12.5l/100km.

this is my other magna im talking about my TJ im measuring the econamy by calculating it with how many km ive done and litres to fill but i will let it settle im driving down to victoria big 2 day drive see how she goes.
