View Full Version : ECU Reset.. What do these mean?
Hey Guys,
After sticking in my splits and taking a plug off the battery terminal i have reset my ECU.
Now when it comes up on the dash display i had the option of first chosing,
5
or
|__|
Then after chosing one of those i get the option to chose either 3.5litre or 3.0litre..
What i want to know is.. What are the 5 or |__| settings?
Reason im asking this is because everytime i turn on my car my Climate control comes on and is set to 25 degrees (the default after a ECU reset)

I think I agree with Manual (for once ;) ) When I was at Len Voss for autobox stuff he plugged in his detector and had to enter this kinda info. But when it asked for a body type, it was actually worded - I think....
Call Mitsu?

Hi guys i just had the same issue on my KH Verada and My dads KJ Verada.
As described in our Owners Manual.
When the battery (ECU) is reset the trip computer will indicate an S which looks like a 5 But is in fact an S. Which means Sedan. If your vehicle is a Sedan then you need to hold down the Mode button for longer than 2 seconds if in fact a wagon hold it for less than 2 seconds.
Next step. Displays a 3.5 which is the enigine size. Again hold Mode Button again for longer than 2 seconds if a 3.5LTR or less than 2 seconds for a 3.0LTR.
It will then take another 5-15 minutes of the car idling before the ECU recognises and operates properly.
Also to check that the right settings have been applied. hold down the MODE button and switch the Key from LOCK position to ACC position.
This is all in the owners manual under SWITCHES Computer Power-UP Procedure.
Hope this has helped you.

What it does is reset all of your settings to the out of factory settings, so that your car can learn from scratch how its driver drives and how its gear changes should be and what the road conditions are etc.

Resetting the ECU resets all the codes in your computer so that it operates effieceintly. When i mean codes i mean any faults that have been reported to the computer by for example an oxygen sensor or so on.
Resetting it will then reset the computer and erase all codes, therefore bringing everything to Default Mode.
