Hi all my first Thread. This week my air cond has been cutting out when everything gets hot. It will work when cold, then stops when everything is at operating temp. The light in the button starts flashing. You can turn it off, and back on, it will go for a second or two and then cuts out again. I had it at my local dealer today who was unable find the fault even though was not working (said he spent an hour checking sensors and I trust him) and suggested taking to an auto elec. The belts are only couple of months old and has been retensioned since this problem surfaced. It is the manual air con system in a te exec. with 104,000km on the clock. would apprec. any help that any one can give, Thanks

Maybe gas types have been mixed? Apparently there's over 20? different types of A/C gases they may not like that!

"This week my air cond has been cutting out when everything gets hot."

Are BOTH the radiator fans coming on when the aircon is running?

Both fans are running when it does work, gasses have never been mixed that i know of (I have had it for around 18 months), and have been told that the gas quantity/pressures are ok. Been 35+ here today with the odd shower of rain, and it is not pleasant.

Had a similar problem with my TL VRX, would cycle off then not come back on for some 5 minutes. Took it to the dealer and it turned out to be the high/low combined pressure switch and receiver dryer. Had both replaced under warranty and now its all sweet :D

Have had same problem with my altera. Mitsu said that it was the fan motor (thingie that makes fan spin) was not working. Cost about $800 to fix it up.

All fans are working fine, seems to be an electrical fault somewhere that seems to show once everythings at operating temp. Having a study of the ws manual there are sensors and an ecu that control the operation of everything.

There is something called a TX sensor (i assume for transmit sensor) screwed up on my previous car (a $20 part) and that could be the problem.

But u gotta take it to a dedicated air con place.

The place that i use, fixed a noisy ac compressor which everyone else said was no good. this guy put some oil in it , was noisy for a day then it is as good as new, never had a problem ever since!

I went to an A/C place today and mentioned the TX valve to them and they replied that when they stuff up everything no longer works. This I have tried bypassing the temp swicth in the compressor, and the hi/lo switch to no avail. These cars are everywhere here im surprised that no one seems to know how the system works or how to fix them when something is not working. I have the factory W/S manual but never seems to to cover what i have go wrong.

At last the fault has reared up and has turn out to be the rev sensor that is on the compresser. This was one of the things I had checked but due to the intermittant nature of the beast it would not show as no good untill it had completely died. Not a cheap part ($190 trade) and unavailable aftermarket. And WARNING, do not attempt to remove unless the gas has been evacuated, the auto elec almost lost his eye when he tried to remove when it took off with 500 odd psi behind it. Aparently it is resonably common for these to fail. Thanks to all for input.
