Recently spent a lot of money rebuilding the engine on my 4cyl TS, and decided as the radiator was old, although functioning perfectly, it might be a wise precaution to replace it.
Got all my parts together, drained the radiator and block and unscrewed the top radiator hose clamp.
A slight twist and pull and the top hose was off......shock horror, the whole connection had snapped off the radiator.
A diasater waiting to happen, if it had let go while driving, by the time I would have known it would have been too late for the engine internals, so be warned, inspect the top hose connection on your radiator

Had this happen to an rx7 i used to own. Cooked the motor because the temp guage was imeadiately dry and was reading ambient air. Was shattered at the time but was really happy a month later when the j port went in. Best thing about a disaster can be the upgrade that follows. Of course that was pre child when i had $$$ and the luxury of driving less than sensible cars

HELLO GUYS :) We have just had replaced our waterpump on our TR and gone for a run when she started to over heat near home. We pulled up the drive and after 30 seconds after switching off the ignition we got a loud whoosh sound and a cloud of steam from under the bonnet. On closer inspection we found the top radiator connector on the radiator had shatterd into several pieces. Problem we have now is replacing the the radiator. Cannot afford a new one so we have gone to a wreckers and found what loks to be alomost new one but has 2 sensors in the base and not 1 like what ours has. Q is to i buy it and install it and just connect the 1 sensor up (1 near the bottom hose) as i have no idea what the other sensor is for ??? Any help is greatly appreciated. TY
