Im thinking of getting twin exhaust on my TH magna, i was just wondering if anyone else hase done this with a Third gen, i have seen some with it done.
My mate tells me that the fuel tank is in the way for another exhaust, and roughly how much will it cost, for the new piping coming out of the same cat, i already know its going to cost me about $250 for the same exhaust i have already.

i got mine done a little while ago. i had a hole in my exhaust so i figured it was a sign to get the twins. I got from the cat back replaced with a second pipe added on just behind the spare wheel. It cost me 700 and then it the tips were extra depending on which ones i picked. I think it cost a little bit more than it should have but when i got it done i really didn't care.

I've got twin exhausts on my 4sp tippy TJ. it does drone a bit, but I always drive in tippy mode, so when it gets loud I just drop back a gear. or you could just put two resonators on.
anyway, here's a link to the thread with pics http://aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39152

got dualies in mine and it does drone a bit but not as much as when i had a single zorst. it all depands on how big your zorst is and what mufflers u got.
i got 2.5" from the cat with a hot do and then it splits just after the rear wheels into two 2" pipes straight into 2 SRT mufflers and ye i like it

Bumper remould cost about $350 including the respray. Exhaust cost about $800. No drone drone whatsoever, the drone on the single exhaust on my TJ was a lot worse. For those who complain of drone, maybe you should look at what you are buying and not think that bigger is always better.

Thank for all ur replys i was going to stick with the 2 1/4 inch piping to keep the noise down a bit, the only reason i want to do this is for the looks and so i can pull up to my mate in his fully sick VN calis with his cannon and 2.5 inch and finally shut him up about how good his car sounds over mine.
Any way i already have a cannon on one side, its a twin so i was going to put one more on the other side so i have 4 Exhaust, it will look mad.:bowrofl:
but i dont want to spend a fortune on this because i have a majour service coming up on my transmission and on my breaks in about 8500 km.

I have the original piping and just after the last flange (just near the spare wheel) it splits down to 2 x 2 1/4" pipes and have 2 Magna Flow Mufflers on there. It does drone abit but you get that

Yeah i did mine a few years ago.. Lov it.. will never go back..
Wasnt hard.. hardest part was getting the 3" pipe over rear crossmember..
Plenty room around the tank..
The hardest part was getting the standard look..
Grr those tail lights are so gay and those pics are so old, my new ones are better. ill need to get undated pics..
As you can see in last two crap pics.. tank aint the issue as it sits forward.. not like commodores at the rear..

And now a tec question how do u put pics on the site like u have done, if I know how to do that I will show u what exhaust I have on mine

biggest thing causing the drone is the cannon mufflers everyone gets.
get a standard sports/vrx style muffler and you'll be surprised the sound it gives on full-throttle

Interesting that you mentioned ".. hardest part was getting the 3" pipe over rear
crossmember.." My exhaust pipe goes under the suspension in the middle section. I thought
with IRS, you don't need to pass the piping over the suspension crossmember.

i have a 3" dual exhaust on my awd
its 3" till it splits in to dual 2.5"
and its not loud at all.... just drones like a mudda****er under load on light throttle... at wot its like a V8 but not and in stereo lol best thing is that at crusing speed 100km/h etc... its quiet as!
its been tested and it's @ 86db where as stock exhaust with high flow muffler made 91db
its 4/4 crazy
im going to get some 4" dump tips welded to the muffled body i dont like them tips not that you can see them unless you stick your head under it

The reason mine is so drony is not because its dual exhaust. its because of the mufflers and hotdog im using. Everything is straight through. And they are quite small mufflers. Hence the droning.
But i do get told the car sounds really nice from the outside when i plant it. So not all that bad. Yes it drones but i will replace the mufflers soon to stop that.
The pipe got split just after the rear axle. The pipe runs around behind the fuel tank and into a 2nd muffler. There is heaps of room.

The exhaust that u have on ur magna is like what im getting done but the actual exhaust tips aint round there a square shape but still looks awesome, I talked to the ppl again today and booked my car in for some ungodly hour in the morning to get it fitted, they said that they where going to just attach the new piping to the old piping instead of just attaching it to the cat, is that what everyone else has done.

30-12-2006, 12:24 AM
I have ripped out everything after the cat. And replaced the pipe to 2.5" and new mufflers and hotdog.
Just split it after the rear axle. Its cheaper than running 2 pipes after cat/hotdog.

if you look hard enough the piping splits where i said it has and each bit of piping then splits to the cannons, both piping join together then lead back through the the stock 2 1/4 inch piping then back to the cat.

Did they say they had any problems fitting another muffler on the other side due to the fuel tank? Any droning at all? And the price, that included both mufflers? I'm really close to doing this myself with another VRX muffler.

I think you'll find that's the spare wheel well, not the fuel tank. the fuel tank is in front of the rear axle.
there's plenty of room to fit another muffler on the other side.

I always thought that that was the fuel tank my bad, at first i got the right one done cost $250 for the exhaust and the new bit of piping, then eventually got the second one done for $350 all up $600 and what do u mean droning if you mean when crusin along at 2000rpm's you hear the exhaust then not as much any more, it did when i only had the one.
But other than that i love what was done, special thanks to the ppl a PROFIX Modbury for all the hard work and taking my money. :bowrofl:
I will have to show you in person D-VAN u dont live to far from me i saw you about a month ago driving around.
anyone know where the best place to get this done in SA? don't wanna get ripped off. any help appreciated. cheers.

That's so cheap... I'm fine with keeping all the stock exhaust, just want to chuck another VRX muffler on the other side mostly for look, but really don't want droning. Yeah, droning is an annoying, bassy "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" noise while driving at low revs.
It'll be good if i could check it out just to see what it sounds like. Maybe this weekend?
