Since I bought my TP sedan, it has had a strange noise when driving and sometimes when idling. It sounded like empty plastic bottles rattling against each other. It didn't really sound like wheel bearings but I was worried that it might be in the early stages of some problem like that.

While doing a transmission oil change this morning and checking the fluid level, I discovered the reason. It was the plastic cover for the water pump pulley vibrating slightly and rubbing on the belt.

I bent it out slightly by hand and now we have silence. Aaah!

I just took mine off and it still does it :doubt:

I think you might need a new water pump if that is what is rattling
or check the bolt holding the cam pully on

water pump is not repairable
if the bearing is noisy it won't be long before it gives out
pump cheaper than a larger repair bill later

I have actually noticed that the pully driving the cam is off centre as it spins and looks wobbly.

I might get my self a new waterpump and adjust the pully it might fix the noise too. I just have never thought doing anything about it because its been doing it for ages lol.
