Well the new heads and roller gear is on, however, we have NO oil pressure, the car does start, but with no oil pressure running it is stupid.

So, how much work is it to change an oil pump, and how would it be done, also what is involved in changing the oil pick up? Would I be correct to think that it would be easy with the sump removed?

Thanks for any help.

take out the oil sender unit and clear the oil way first
turn over the engine to see if oil is making it to there

oil pumps dont fail that often ... has the chain broken ??

the same work as changing the timing chains is required to do the oil pump

sump off to clear the oil pump gauze filter is a must do

Got any pictures mate, I have no idea what or where the oil sender unit is.

Will try the gauze thing.

the oil sender is screwed into the front of the block below left hand side of the exhaust manifold facing into the engine bay from the bumper bar

with one wire running from it

next option is to take off the oil filter and turn the engine ove see how much oil is running out of that

Nothing comes out of the oil filter.

Thanks for the help, I will take off the sump tomorrow and clean out these things.

The chain didn't brake, the sump got a little bit dented when the oil light came on, but I didn't pay to much attention to it as it just goes away after it warms up.

After the timing chain and oil pump chain got changed I left it idling and it just stalled, the pin that holds the cam to the cam gear was in two pieces, a valve was bent and valve marks in every piston. My theory was that the cam seized up from no oil and thats where everything went wrong.
