looking at getting an amp and a sub.i was looking at getting a 12 maybe 2, 12's further down the track. but atm one. i tend to listen to alot or house, dance, rock, alternative and a bit of hip hop. sopretty broad. what do u guys recommend me get. i was gonna get the ampinstalled professionally and do the sub myself. how much am i looking at for amp installation.my budget it 400 for the amp and sub

so $400 is for:
Amp
Sub

or:
Amp
Sub
Box
Wiring
Install

??

option 1 can be done for $400, but u probably wont be impressed with a $200 sub and a $200 amp (unless brands like kenwood/pioneer/sony/boss make u go 'oooh fully sick'), and option 2, well lets just say ur sub will look more like a carboard cone :P
the amp install will be looking around $100-$200, considering alot of place charge like $75-$100 just for a headunit install.

my advice, save up a lil more, shop around, maybe go response/jaycar gear, but in the end u'll be alot happier than the above setup.

which would u rather, to pay a little more now and enjoy it, or 2 give it away when u redo ur boot install to do 2 12s? one good sub now will equal 2 good subs later ;)

Alpine have a deal in their summer catalogue. MRP-M450 monoblock amp and a 12" Type S subwoofer for $449. This deal saves $119 over RRP.

It wouldn't suprise me if you could get better for the price, but you could certainly do a lot worse.

that alpine deal sounds reasonable, and if you do decide to go 2 12's later, just get another one of those packs!

other than that, i'd have a look at jaycar stuff, such as:

1x PRECISION RESPONSE CAR AMP 2X150WRMS = $250
Power / channel @ 4ohm 14.4V: 150WRMS x 2
Power / channel @ 2ohm 14.4V: 255WRMS x 2
Power / bridged @ 4ohm 14.4V: 500WRMS x 1

15INCH 4 OHM SUBWOOFER - DOUBLE MAGNET = $100
Nominal impedance: 4 Ohms
Power rating: 250WRMS

$400 is plenty.
Personally i'd go a Jaycar monoblock for around $250-300, then go to any jb/strathfield/autobarn store and see what subs they have for $100. Won't be earth shattering but a good start. You'll most likely kill your first ever sub anyway, so better off to start with something abit cheaper :).

dunno why anyone ever bothers recommending subs other than Pioneer 306c's in a budget like this, they are honestly the only option worth looking at.. everything else is either poo, or too expensive :)

Responxe 2x150 $250 (bad amp if you plan on expanding to 2 subs later, but anything good is out of your budget)
Pioneer 306c $100 (in in box $180)
amp install $100

How much is installation? He needs that included in his $400. I reckon, just get one of the guys on AMC to drop by one arvo and help set it up for you. Power wiring, and a fuse is needed for the amp, so that might suck up a few pennies more :)

If you in syd, i'd be happy to help out if you need to save some pennies on installation... :)

edit* victoria division spotted in your sig... you poor thing :P cancel that offer then.

ooh, if thats the case, then get a Response 4x100 (for the upgradability), and a Pioneer 306C.

$400 right there, and you wont go much better for that price at all :)
