Howdy!
so yeah, i have a magna TF 97 auto. and well, for maybe a week and a half(?) it has been just dying.
a little bit more detail:
so i turn my car on in the morning and drive to the gym. about 10-15 minutes into the drive, the 'rev pointing thingy' (i'm a car noob) does a little wiggle and then drops down, and then the car dies (engine turns off, radio turns off etc.) but doesn't stop, it just.... continues rolling along. when this happens, i just indicate and turn into a side street or find somewhere to park. i turn off the car and try to start it again, doesnt work, after a few more tries it works, around 5-10 minutes later (the clock on the radio is also reset). after that theres no problem and i go to the gym.
on the way home (afternoon-ish) theres no problem, car works as normal, although the rev thingy sometimes does a wiggle.
at first i thought it might be the ECU not recognizing the driving patterns (i had disconnected the battery prior to the car acting up). so i reseted the ECU (following the instructions found in other threads) by disconecting the battery, leaving it for a while (overnight), reconnecting it and then leaving idle for 15 minutes. this did nothing, the car still had the problem.
so after some further searching through threads i found this (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35833) and thought i might need a new battery. my logic behind this is: morning=cold, clock reset=battery. so i'm planning to get my battery tested and buy a new one.
so i guess what i'm asking is, am i right to assume it's the battery?
if not, can anyone suggest what could be the problem?
my back up plans are: fuel filter and/or injector, fuel relay pump or ECU.
