hi all.
just wondering what you think...
if i wanted my thermo fans to work when the ignition is turned on could i just take the plug off from the radiator sensor and just bridge the terminals??
i have done it in other cars just not sure if you can do it with these..
cheers

No need mate, the fans are set to come on at the appropriate temp for a good reason.
When you are mobile, the fans do nothing as the airflow is faster than what the fans can supply. When you are stationary, you only need the fans when the temp reaches 88 deg from memory thus these are controlled through the switches and the ecu. This ensures even and constant temp at all times.

ahh wasnt sure about that.. i know they do come on when the car reaches about half or just under... just thought mabey extra cooling would be helpful....
cheers once again :)

Just out of interest, where is the thermo sensor? I think I found it but am not sure.
It's at the bottom of the radiator and on the driver's side of the radiator.
Anyone got a picture?

i am pretty sure its the one at the bottom or the radiator next to the lover hose... i could be wrong though..

So the thermo sensor controls the driver's side fan? What controls the other one? That's the one that isn't working for me. I chucked a multimeter on the terminals and it didn't get any juice with the car running for 5 minutes.
I'm pretty sure the passenger's side fan used to be on all the time with the driver's side cutting in and out every now and then.
Where is the fuse for the passenger's side fan? I check all of the ones in the fusebox under the dash and in the engine compartment but none are blown.. hrrmm.

could be the relay for that fan. i thought both are supposed to go on when the temp goes high say at the lights. and only one is supposed to go on when the aircon is on

Anyone know how I'd check the relay??
EDIT: Swapped the relay with the one for the tail lights...still nothing. Also put in a new 30A fuse for the condenser fan...still nothing. Tested all of the relays with the tail lights...they all work. What else can I check??

as far as i know the passenger side fan comes on with the aircon and the big drivers side one is the one that comes on automaticaly when the temp sensor tels it to...
sound right to everyone else?

Ahh wicked. That's what I was doing wrong. The aircon wasn't on when I measured the voltage at the terminals. Tried measuring again with the aircon on and got ~13V.
All good now, replaced the condenser fan and now I have both fans working.
@lord_davros sorry for hijacking your thread for a little bit there. I did find out while trying to solve my problem that if you did bridge the terminals on the thermosensor plug it will keep the big radiator fan on constantly.
