My stock-as-a-rock TF is finally taken its first steps into being custom. Other night mate came round with can of tint so yada yada yada 30mins later Ive got tinted tail lights. Look pretty good, improves the rear end heaps. Unfortunately the rest of the car still looks stock as... In the pic below they look completely blacked out but I didn't go that drastic with the tinting, just it was middle of the day with clear skies and my camera phone aint top of the line technology anymore.

Not a fan of tinted really. They look way too dark. You need reflectors on the back really so people dont total your cars ass when you leave it on the road at night.

Polish them up or stick about 4 layers of gloss on them, they will look sick then

No doubt they do look good, but it's a bit of a trade-off since you're reducing the tail lights' visibility (hence increasing the chance someone will run up your ass like Billionaire said).

Also its a defectable mod, so it might be a good idea to have a spare set of stock ones lying around if you need to swap back.

Yea the lights are visable, as I said before they aren't as dark as they seem in the pic, during the day the brakes and indicators are still visible and at night they are very visable. I also plan to pic up a pair of stock ones for the switch-a-roo. By the way are they're any fines or loss of points when defected? Ive lost 3 points already for not wearing a seat belt so not to fond of losing my other 3 when Im so close to blacks

OKay this is another example of how crap my Motorola V3 is. Seriously the lights aren't as bad as they seem in the pic. Yes the reflectors are now redundant which does suck and I can imagine hearing sum cop shouting at me now:rant: . But f#@k it they're staying, they make the car look good, makes it stand out from the hundred other kashmir magnas I see everyday and makes mates and co-workers start commenting on how good they look rather than the usual "So you bought another magna... didn't learn with the first one huh?"

Thanks liberate by the way.

makin ur reflectors redundant means ur insurance will make u redundant as well wen u claim on "hit from b'hind accident". well wat makes u happy, but dont come up cryin and say some ahole hit u from bhind:doubt:

that’s not entirely the case, in 99% of rear ends will be blamed on the back driver as they should be x space away and should be aware of what will/is going to happen no matter if the person in fronts tail lights where blown/dark/fallen off etc

is your magna kashmir? looks silver!

i got mine tinted last week. i specifically asked for a really light tint. he brings them back and they were so dark. it looks cool, but its too risky. ill post a pic (taken with V3i)

gonna get a 2nd hand pair and tint them, then sell the ones i got now.

pic was taken at 8pm overcast. parkers are on.

Not sure about other states, but in Queensland it's something like 1 point and $150.

I'd love to tint the tailights on my Magna, but I don't really want to be police bait. Decisions decisions....

sorry to high jack.

Im starting to regret them a bit. Its not driving with them cause I do most of my driving at night and they're fine then no problems seeing them but yea Im minus reflectors and Ive got rego in three weeks so im gunna have to grab a stock pair anywho.

I'll prolly do the same as you just do a lighter tint, Mine I put a layer on, letf to dry then put a second layer on. They look so friggin good that when I parked next to a TJ VRX I was actualy proud of my car but I can feel they may be more trouble than they're worth.

Anyone want to swap tinted TE-TF tails for stock ones?

u can still undo it if u use a mineral turps to wash the tint off. but it wont wash out straight away:think:

had a big discussion with some mates that got done with tinted tail lights.. one of them was rear ended, blantantly the other drivers fault (he was stopped at a stop sign for about 10 seconds before the person thumped into him).. and he got the blame due to the person claiming to have thought he was taking off because they couldnt see his brakers.

imo, as hot as it looks, its too dangerous to bother doing

He wasn't talking about during driving but if he was parked along the kerb at night in a
poorly lit stretch of street and say a car hits it because the other driver could not see
any reflections. We are not saying that the other guy won't be blamed but your insurance
won't cover you due the the accident happening because of a defect. Also, OP, have you
tried looking at the brake lights when the arvo setting sun is hitting on it? Lots of pile-ups
happen because of poorly lit brake lights with the sun setting behind. There was about 3
3-4 car pile-ups on Montague Rd at the Mawson Lakes Blvd intersection a while ago
because of the setting sun making it difficult seeing the brake lights. Just hope no one
looses their lives becuase of these stupid illegal mods.

I just read the thread you put up Hyper, You put on 4 coats of tint! goddamn! I put on two and though that was a bit over the top. Do you still have yours on? Im split on whether or not to keep them.

Yeah, I still have my tints and mine is not really over the top. As for keeping them, that is a decision for you to make I guess. Need to weigh up the pro's and cons.
