I've just finnished fitting all the gear out of my magna, (2x 12" kenwwods, 500wrms mono, pioneer splits, clarion splits, US Audio 4 channel) in to the Golf, and bloody hell, the reduced space in the golf has a massive effect on the bass!
Leaving all the settings the same as when they came out of the magna, which was loud, but within reason. Now in the golf the bass makes my hair and forhead vibrate and my vision go blury! its also making my CDs skip! i havent tryed it with an MP3, but i recon that might not skip.
any way of making the bass not make my CDs skip?
Im not turning it down.

haha yeh, i just put the same setup my brother used to have in a commodore and then a magna, into his little Starlet (*cough* homo *cough*). Its too bassy for his liking now, have had to turn it down quite a bit - and its only getting 130ish w RMS!

Get a better head unit. Had the same problem in my fiances car, would skip the cd over small bumps in the road as well.

Had a stock Blaupunkt that done this in a 03 Vectra V6 I used to have. Just got a better unit and it fixed.

Ahh another VW convert. Great to see another person on her has gone to the German beasts. Even in the Bora the overall acoustics improved 10 fold! :D

of course the bass would be higher. same pressure thats what sound is with less space. so the actual loss from the larger space of the magna is not as much.
plus you dont have things like metal bracing and sound dedening in the boot and the rear seat for the bass to get to you. congrates on the extra bass. carefull you dont go deaf.

what sevo said. sound deadener, add a bit of weight to the brace so it doesnt move around as much. otherwise... no idea. ipod adaptor?

Um, the golf is full sound deadend, and the the seats in the magna where always down anyway.
yesterday we noticed that the bass was making the front wipers jump on the windscreen!
