I have a 99 Diamante. The antilock light on my dash was showing me code 13 (rear right ABS speed sensor). These are known to go out on the Diamante. I installed a brand new one. The fitting went well. I removed the old one, then had to grind some rust and pieces of the old sensor's housing out of the hole to slip the new sensor in.

I started the car up and the antilock light was still on. I shut the car off, then started it back up, the light was off. I kept restarting and the light stayed off. I thought the light was off for good and I had indeed fixed the problem.....NOPE! It has been over a week and everytime I start the car up for the first time it stays on, I have to restart the car and then it goes off. It is like only when it id cold-started.....What is causing this? I even did an ECU reset by disconnecting the negative battery cable for 30 minutes and let it idle for a good 10-15 minutes. Still nothing, what could be causing this?

I caught the light on this dirty dog and he is spitting codes 13 then 14 at me...!!!!!!! What does this exactly mean ? The light just comes on and off, just taunts me........

It can't mean both sensors need replacing....what does it mean??

Code 13: Rear Right Sensor (open)
Code 14: Rear Left Sensor (open)

Thank you for any help regarding this issue,
AJ

When I replaced the rear right sensor, it was clean- no dirt or debris at all.....

If these sensors do not get dirty, what else could be causing all this?

I appreciate all the help.

Thank you,
AJ

Check the wiring to the sensors, and particularly any connections which may be exposed to the elements.

Cheers,
Martin.

All seems fine. I just replaced the rear right sensor (new wiring etc).

Thanks.
