A few months ago my brakes were squeeling to the point that I was the object of attention wherever I went, after a bit of stuffing around my mechanic said the handbrake was to tight and loosened it off solving the problem. Now it's starting up again and I'm sure it's the handbrake as pads, rotors are fine.
How do I loosen the handbrake off?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAH
Squealing *comes from* the BACKS of the brake pads vibrating against the calipers, which are the parts that actually do the squeezing.
IN ADDITION to this, the pads should be properly bedded in. This sets up the rotor surface and the pads so that when you brake, they vibrate less (or not at all), which therefore stops the noise. This is what the service manager was referring to when he told you to brake hard a few times.
There is a proper procedure to bed in brakes. I have followed the tips at this link with great results:

You may need to do this periodically if you don't use the car for a while. My brakes were silent before it sat at teh dealer for a month awaiting a new engine. When the car came back, the squealing was terrible. After repeating this proceedure, silence returned.
PS im at work and bored

I've had the rotors and pads checked and double checked, wheels aligned the works as I stated. I know its the handbrake just need to know how to loosen it.

It shows up as being on just before the first click. One of the ways I stop the car squeeking is to put on and release the handbrake a few times(doesn't always work), which keeps it quiet until I use the handbrake again. It would be interesting to find out why it keeps tightening.

To adjust the handbrake, take the rear tyre off, and between 2 of the studs youll see a little rubber plug. Remove it. Chock the tyres and take the handbrake off.
Now rotate the hub and youll see a little cog with notches in it, get a flathead screwdriver and a hammer and some wd40, spray the wd40 on it, get the flathead into one of the grooves on the cog and hammer gently towards the center of the wheel hub to tighten, towards the outside of the hub to loosen. Its a slow job but only takes like 5 mins.
