i blew the stock front speakers about 10 days after buying my car (hehe) and replaced them with Alpine Type S speakers.

now they sound fine considering i still have the stock headunit and rear speakers, but occassionally i can hear a sort of crinkling noise, almost like the background noise you get when listening to vinyl records.

It didnt do this before, so i am assuming it is the speakers. Any ideas what could be the issue? maybe the wiring or perhaps even the speakers are faulty?

does it do it all the time?
as in every song that you play?
might be just because the speaker picks up higher and lower frequences better than your stock speakers
might also be the connection, just go over the wires just to make sure
you should really upgrade your deck as well if you dont wanna damage the speakers

does it on some songs and not others... i'm listening through my ipod 100% of the time via cassette adaptor and it doesnt matter what quality the song is. my old car with 100% factory (but very good) stereo didnt do it, so positive it's not the quality of the music.

how come it is bad to have the old headunit with new speakers? :( i'll rip of the door panel tomorrow and have a look at the wires, i am pretty sure it is only the front left that does it.

thanks :)

is bad because the stock h/u has little output power to run each speaker
hence not enough power to move the new speaker properly
if its the front left then it might be a wiring issue cause mine puts out stadic through that speaker

yeah check the wriring, but it is also possible that your new speakers are picking up detail (or poor recording detail) than your old speakers could not. I knwo when i upgraded i couldnt listen to mp3 CD's anymore, cause they sounded ****.. whereas on my stock set up, it was all pretty much the same... over$1000 worht of genuine CD's later, im happy :P
