Hi all
My maiden post to ask about a problem with a TJ II Sports I'm going to look at tomorrow (and hopefully buy :D )
Seller tells me that the car had been left sitting for a couple of months and the car battery died. He tried to clutch start it down a hill (yes it's a manual ;-) but it wouldn't - ie REALLY dead battery.
His neighbour 'kindly' came down with the jumper leads and a running car and they jumped it back to life. All seemed well - however since the jump start, the LCD odometer and other parts of the dash (seller wasnt exactly sure) no longer function. Tacho and speedo OK though FWIW.
Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas on what is required to fix? or how much?
Need to know ASAP!
Thanks heaps

Thanks Tim, will check em.
Anyone else got any suggestions?
Great forum you blokes have going here, really like the way it's laid out :D
Especially like the huge number of threads about wheels and lowered suspension - seemed a bit much at first - but then I realised those 2 things are actually first on my 'just bought it' to-do list!

if it looks dodgy don't buy it, the battery will probably be damaged due to inaction. It's a car that i'd definately have the racq nrma etc looking at before you decide to purchase.
On topic hope it's the fuses, then check other simple stuff like connections at the back of the gauge cluster etc.
Peace out
Is the odo part of the trip computer readout in the dash below the tacho and speedo? If so
is it displaying an S? If so than its just that the trip computer needs to be recalliberated
if power is lost due to dead/disconnected battery.

Yeh it is. I'd say that's most likely what it is.

That's encouraging Vlad - I'll check when I get there tomorrow. Fingers crossed for an 'S' then.
Lookin forward to it workin out and gettin amongst the Magna clan with the new machine  It's gonna be the new family car, complete with 18s and lowering. Should be a much nicer drive than the aging 92 Liberty RS wagon we currently have!
Oh yeah, with all this anticipation over buying the TJ I haven't really introduced myself yet hey...
As you'll see, I'm a bit of a car nut - here's my 'other car' Imported from Japan as a rolling shell - 1971 Datsun Bluebird SSS coupe (fairly like the AUS market Datto 1600)

Looks like offspring if a Datsun 1200 did the jiggy-jiggy with a R32 GTR.
I'd call it 'Prince'! :P

Spend your time and money on the Datsun... that thing is sex with wheels and a turbo.

Glad you guys like the Datto - plan to have it engineered and rego'd for the Nissan-Datsun Sports Nationals to be held at Phillip Island over Easter.

well done on the pick up mate :D
yeah just ring either the dealer (if you know which one the guy brought it from) or ring mitsubishi with your vin/licence plate number or ckeck in the glove box for alittle card with all the manuals and stuff
to reset the computer just hold down the mode button and it should beep twice or are you still at the point where it has the "S" on the odo?
oh and i love your datto, nice work buddy  body work looks good too
