Lets say you had a 3.0L magna and you had the following mods
-Lukey muffler
-RPW Air filter and CAI
-RPW Race extractors
-RPW Fuel pressure regulator kit
-RPW Duel Throttle Body System
and a piggyback ecu to re tune all the extra power

How much power could you expect at the engine
WHat are your educated estimations?

Just to clarify, do you mean the 91-95 3.0l? or the 96+ 3.0l?
Because 91-95 is a sohc 12v and the 96+ is a sohc 24v

12v = 120kW and the 24v = 140-147kW

So if it's the 1st then I reckon you would get 160kW, and the latter, close to 180.

Just a guess...

i was under the impresion rpw hadnt developed the twin for the 3rd gens so i thought it would have to be a tr/ts. nice list of mods though regardless. have you had it dynoed at all?

WHAt other ways are there to get power other then cams, conrods, pistons and head upgrades?

dont get ahead of myself i havent done this yet but is what i plan in doing im just doin a bit of my own research

1st you get the job then you get the money then you blow it all on your car

Manual

well that is basically all the "bolt on - easy - cheap" mods you can do!!

though i don't think the Twin T/B is worth it!!

a larger single works just as efficiently!!

After those mods you gotta look at either pulling the engine apart - forced induction - or sell it for a new car!!

Currently i have 133 KW at the wheels from a muffler / pod / T/B / and extracotrs on the 147KW 3.5L - just for an idea!!

ok cool. manual what is that power figure at the engine...about 178kw. manual you planning on getting a piggyback ecu... what do you think of the rpw fuel pressure kit?and what is that worth$

also just a wierd question how old r you manual coz i seen a pic of you in an old thread..just curious

im 19

you cant really guess these things cos stock engines can be like 10 kw difference between identical rengines.....depends how they were made and run in the eaerly stages

Magna23
08-01-2004, 03:28 PM
well surely you can make a ball park figure like im not gonna get 250 kw obviously so you a around about figure like say 30 to 50 kw

Mate - i wish i could get 140RWKW out of a FWD magna ;)

haha - yeah well - tis cool with teh Emanage and the FPR - I am hoping for just about 150FWKW - then i will be happy

But yeah - We will see

manual you dont think you could get 140 rwkw........how much is that at the engine about 185kw. shouldnt it be fwkw though since the magna is front wheel or am i missing something

Magna23
08-01-2004, 05:06 PM
can someone explain to me is there a diff and if so what it is between fwkw and rwkw. ob viously it is front wheel drive and rear wheel drive. manual you said your hoping for 150fwkw isnt that more then 140 rwkw what 4 PLEAZN wrote ......

sorry i am not a mechanical wizard...just easily confused

how mush is the ecu piggyback system your looking at worth manual?

SYNRGY

no manual was paying me out saying hed like RWKW in a magna being front wheel drive.....

he also agrees that 140- 150 FRONT WHEEL KW is achievable

Manual
08-01-2004, 05:18 PM
ok - the only difference is the FWD and RWD - you cannot get power to the rear wheels of a magna because there is no axle driving the rear wheels - it is a bit of a joke - basically you cannot get RWKW in a magna - unless you have a RWD setup in it - which is HUGE dollars.

yes i thought there might have been some joke in there, its a bit hard to hear sarcasm on the net. that gets rid of my confusion now.

Magna23

by the way what is huge dollars like 8 to 10 grand . i think i seen on tv somehwere that they have done it for a curcuit car.just curiosity

Hi
I have recorded 140kw atw with a 3.5L auto with these mods: greddy emanage, pacemaker extractors, K&N pod filter, and lukey muffler. In about 2 weeks will be fitting high flowed throttle body and CAI.

RPW only do high flowed throttle bodies for our generation magnas, no other throttle body mods are available, manual managed to scam the last oversized throttle body from RPW.

With all those mods on a manual 3L you should get around 150kw atw.
From what i understand u will get a simliar figure to me because i have the auto and the 3.5L.

Magna23

nice figures. will RPW getting any more T/B's

mr_mbquart

from what i understand they are only doing high flowed throttle bodies, i think they certain issues with the other designs. I wish they done other throttle body mods, I will contact them to make sure just before i get it done. I mean a high flowed throttle body is better than the standard one, i'm just waiting for my CAI kit to come in as they are importing it so when that comes in I will talk to them again

im working on a design with a full flow TB, like manuals

see how things go ;)

just a bit curious on what u mean by 'your working on'?

Manual
09-01-2004, 08:29 AM
ok - this aint no good - i can't have no auto putting out more power than me ;) hahahah jk/s dude

though I am interested to see how we go at the dyno - and to see how quick yours goes down the strip!!

And the Emanage is on my list of to-do's ATM as well ;) haha

manual-do u think u will have the emanage done before the dyno day?

Ummm, no!!

unfortunatly between now and then I am taking a trip to Esperance - but fingers crossed it should be serviced ;) haha

No - when i do the MOGWA dyno - I will only have - Race Extractors, 70mm T/B, LR2779 Lukey Muffler, and K&N Pod with the K&N CAI setup (the one you are getting imported from the US)

No - unfortunately (well not really) i got wheels instead - i wanted some decent wheels - they cost me the Emanage - but yeah - soon mate - real soon - depends on what my annual bonus is which i should be getting this month - schaweet!!

mr_mbquart

cool cause i would think that if u got the emanage then u would beat me on a dyno, being the manual and all. It should be a tight contest then!

Manual
09-01-2004, 09:47 AM
it will be interesting yes - but power to the ground is only one type of contest - power figures arent' everything!!

a true performaning alrounder is good on the dyno / strip and track!!

yeah that is also when the driven comes into it. I'm just a bit curious on how the dyno goes though cause as u would know dyno results are very different on different dynoes. I mean i recorded 140kw atw, u have recorded 133kw atw (but now would be higher due to extractors) but this could change dramatcially on another dyno. I assume that u used the same dyno as me if u went through RPW, Speedworks. Let the games begin, also what time are we meeting for the dyno day?

Manual
09-01-2004, 10:23 AM
yeah speedworks chassis dyno - SST is a roller dyno

yeah - it is going to be very interesting - when i got mine dynoed - it was very hot (outside temp was close to 35 degrees) so yeah - similar conditions will be interesting to see the resutls.

As for the dyno - i think we are meeting at the actual dyno place at whatever time it is!! I will have to confirm that with them when i cruise with them this weekend.

may be i could walk over to perth and steal manuals throttle body.
just curious manual have you dragged any cars at the lights and won. do you reckon anybodies magna here could beat a stock Gen III like a ss or something.

Street racing is illegal and not condoned in any way shape or form - don't mean i don't occasionally partake in it - PM me and I can fill you in on a few stories!!

However - I have held a VU SS Holden Ute all teh way to 170km/h (private roads ;) ) haha

he was not impressed and I have a passenger who will back me up

Oh - and 5l V8's - unless they are fairly modded - ain't that hard to beat.

I can't back him up on that one but I can say that I was in his car when we kept on being beaten by three chicks in two cars. One was a Falcon and the other was a Lancer. Hope he's faster now
