I want to swap my standard interior cabin light with the one from one of the higher spec models. I grabbed one today from an Elite.
About to install it and discover that when the screw holes line up there will be a 5mm gap in the roof lining because the Elite's interior light won't cover the old cutout completly.
Has anyone else done this? Same problem? How did you get around it? Don't tell me I have to replace the entire roof lining - I've got a wagon... :doubt:

Ive done this in a Sedan and fitted no problems at all.
Where is the wagon Light compared to a Sedans?

I've fitted a Verada Interior light (Centre & Map Lights) into an Exec Wagon. No problems.
The Verada centre light is bigger than the exec stock one - so should be no gap.
Did you get the Elite/Verada metal bracket as well?
Is the attached pic the light your installing?

Doh! That's my problem then. Hope I can find the right car again and rip it out too!

Yeh that's the one.
I should have grabbed the bracket. How stupid.

Yeah, pop back into the wreckers and say you forgot to grab the bracket as well. Hopefully they won't charge you for it. (should have been included)
Hope it fixes the problem.

Got it from U-Pull-It. Don't think they'd really give a toss if I forgot it. Worth a try though. :D

The map lights and interior lights are a straight screw in, have done this many times. The wiring is also dead easy

Hey madmagna, is the wiring in place for the front map lights in execs?

No, you will need to splice into the factory centre light wire which can be gotten to fairly easily

I was at the U-Pull-It again today, here is a what it looks like under the roof lining where you'll need to put the front map lights.

As madmagan said, you would need to splice the factory wiring to hook it up. Probably be a good idea to get the plug from the car you get the map light from.

anyone know if there's a "you-pull-it" type place in canberra?
and can anyone recommend any good mechanics (also in canberra), considering i don't know a whole lot about cars... ... i guess the best thing is to get two opinions, and see if they match?
i don't earn a lot, so when things need to be done i have to spend money wisely... ><
as for where the closest wreckers are in canberra i have no clue, as with the mechanic as well.
I paid $8 for the interior light at my wreckers, and $7 for the front map lights.
You can either wire and install it yourself or take it to your nearest auto electrician, im sure they'll look after you and do it cheap.
