Aparently there are 3 types of ac compresors for the 3rd gen v6's. Any one know why and are they interchangable as i need to replace mine.

The te/f book I have show 2, the difference being in the connections of the hoses and the way they mount.

If you have the bracket, belt, tensioner and hoses to the evap/matrix then you should be right.
Watch that the pulleys are the same though, some cars often use different pulleys between years which will mean that early models have w belts v's v belts for instance.
Sorry for no definitive answer.

Yeah i noticed this too when i replaced mine a year ago.. the dif was between series one and two i thik.. One of the differances where something to do with a speed sensor.. nearly doubled the cost of compressor..:)

Picked up a compressor unit from the wreckers this morning, pulled out mine this afternoon and they have given me the wrong one. Its got the same model number but different part numbers. As Dr Ego mentioned the difference is in a sensor and the associated wiring. The sensor is in a different spot + mine is a single plug, the other has 4 wire plug, mounting and house fittings appear to be all the same. Back to the wreckers tomorrow, if they are open and I hope they have the right one.
