Hi, not sure if this has been covered or not before...
Just wanting to know the wiring diagrams for the stock stereo loom. Planning on installing an alpine unit. Would they be the same as the 3rd gens at all?
Umm theres 2 looms/plugs. A large and a small one. Would the small one be for the LCD and the steering wheel controls?
Cheers, Phil.

ummm didnt think you could install a deck into the 380
unless you posted in the wrong section, should be in car audio
there should be a wiring diagram floating around the forum, i'll have alook and dig it up for you
as for the wiring loom is that coming from the deck? the 2 looms? what alpine deck did you get cause its the first i've heard of 2 looms on head units

considering he mentioned both LCD and steering wheel controls it seems as though he is talking about a 380 with the integrated audio. You can get a console accomodation kit if you want to install a different stereo or GPS unit. I don't know how easy it is to do though and if it'd work with the centre screen.
i'm pretty sure it'd be easier to change the deck in the 380ES because it doesn't have the integrated audio, nor does it have the centre screen atop the dash.

Yes i am talking about the 380, with the integrated audio/bluetooth. The double din accomodation kit has been acquired already. Just a matter of wiring up the HU.
Not worried about it working with the LCD (doubt it will) but the steering wheel controls would be nice.. the alpine unit accepts control input from steering wheel control devices.
The actual car has the 2 looms, not the aftermarket headunit... sorry i should have been clearer.
So are they the same as the 3rd gen wiring at all?

It will be interesting to see your solution for the install. Most interesting will be seeing how you get things done and maintain control of the climate control systems which are integrated into the facia which covers the HU. Whilst such a layout makes the interior look more aesthetic it does reduce the number of options for people such as yourself who want to add an aftermarket HU. Myself, I'm sticking with the original unit and adding an iPod adapter to the HU which arrives tomorrow from the US. Cheers...

Just a quick question. Hve you checked out the 380 manual which is on CD and available at www.lisho.net? It may have some information to get you going.

Any luck getting the steering wheel controls and lcd screen to work with your aftermarket head unit?
i've just bought a 380 VRX and am considering chucking in the pioneer double din screen. if i can get the steering wheel controls to work, that would be quite handy. (and somehow connecting it to the climate control/audio lcd would be good too)
also wondering what happens to the lcd when an after market head unit cant be connected to it - does the lcd still show the climate control info? and not the audio info, or does it not work at all?

A little OT sorry, but does anyone know what models came with the steering wheel audio controls? Through looking at pictures of various VRX's they don't seem to have any. Where abouts are they located on the wheel?

Yoou won't see them in pics because they're located behind the steering wheel and are just very small bumps so they don't interfere with steering. There are two controls on each side in the 9 and 3 o'clock positions.

I have a 380 brochure that says the base model has them so i would assume that every 380 has them based on that.
