wow.. i was driving along today and heard a god awful noise from the engine.. i thought my chain had finally given up.... so i pulled over and the engine was still running... i pulled back out and nearly took out a stobie as it was the power steer belt and i didnt realise it was gone so i put the power down and got a shock... damm these cars are heavy without it......

When a car with power steering loses its power steering belt/pump/wateva they are alot heavier than a non-power steering car to drive. I wouldnt drive it until u get the belt replaced as the belt also turns the alternator and you will eventually (ie 30 mins or so) get a flat battery.

Thats nothing compared to the 2 U turns, 3 round abouts and 2 oval abouts I had to do. Oval abouts suck enough as it is, but once you got no power steering you may aswell be steering the titanic.

instead of driving the car when youve got no power steering your parking your boat(magna) into port(home). i had to do it too. its like damn why couldnt you drive it off the crank directly like the oil pump

How much was it to get it fixed? Was it an easy DIY job?
And what the hell is an oval about

Mine would have been an easy $22 dollar fix (ie cost of belt) but the tensioner bolt for the air con belt (which is on the outer side of the pully hense had to come off) was broken and I had work so it cost me another $30 in labour for my champion Auto Elec to do it while I was a work next door.
And an oval about is like a round about except oval, so you need to turn sharper at some points to get around it.
