Im looking at putting some audio gear in my soon-to-be TH magna. Has anyone had any dramas installations done by Strathfield, JBHifi, Gary's Audio, AutoBarn? Any recommended small-businesses worth checking out? I want to put in a new headunit, some splits in the front (mounting tweeters in the dash) and a sub& in the boot.
Im a bit wary about it being done badly by 15yo school dropouts (ala Strathfield), as im prepared to pay for a quality install. Ill most likely have all the parts already as i can get 50% of all Clarion stock
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Depending on the lefel of trim, I can sure help out with the electrical side, will save you big bucks, have done plenty in the past.
Sing out if you want a hand
Yep there is a few of us melbourne people that can help out, ie: madmagna/ liquidhot and myself, but if your looking for a high end install, i'd have to reccomend Garrys car Radio, I have some contacts there if need be.

i suggest you check out Ashes and LHM's setup and see if you can't scam some assistance from these guys - I have seen them in person and they are very nice clean installs - just don't get ash to lend you "Inspector Gadget" ;) to test your new system with!!

/me can still smell buring fuses out the front of Mitsubishi in Adelaide :)
Damn that CD got some base!
I just love the line I used to the R & D guy
"I don't think this one passed the rattle test" :)

I don't think they have rattle tests of the same sort of serious level ;)

I couldn't recomend Garys Car Audio in Preston highly enough!!! Rodney knows his stuff and nothing is too much of a problem.... He has always looked after me and his installers are fantastic. They have done all my work in my magna and Outback.

i got a sub and amp installed at strathfield and they did a good job for only $80 including cables but its only a basic installation, JB only installs equipment you buy from them, you can also check out alpine car audio in moorabbin they gave me advice on how to stop my boot from vibrating and it helped heaps. here's a pic of the strathfield installation

I'm with Gary's, I've had the blokes at Watsonia do various installs on my last three cars and I can't speak highly enough of them....

A mate of mine does audio installation for Autobarn but does installs outside of work aswell. Good prices and top notch installs, give me a hollar if interested.
If any of you went to the MAS and saw the US Audio showcar (Blue BA XR6) my mate did that install.
I do my own installs like most of the people here, so I reckon between everyone you could get a nice install done.
Cheers

DB fever in Brunswick I'd also recomend.... they were here in Sunbury before going out there and they did my first car.... but they didn't like it much when my mate blew up all their handy work!!!!
