Hi there, just outta curiousity, any ideas on what decent v6 engines would fit into the chassis of a 1986 TM Magna? COz at first i was thinking of saving up in buying a decent 2nd hand car but, i really like my TM....soooo errm, any suggestions please! coz myh carby engine sucks when it comes to peformance.

EFI mod?

toyota camry V6 or ford telstar V6
might with its gearbox wiring computer looms controllers etc

blue plateing and new engine mounts need to be looked into

or put in a TP engine and gearbox -better ratios

How much would it cost me to purchase a TP engine?

Just buy a TP, you can pick them up for a few hundred.

If that is your car in the profile (fantastic first gen )
then go for the TP conversion

should be this service available in sydney somewhere

ring around the wreckers find one that will put in the efi things
if lucky they may deduct some of the price for your tm parts

If your engine is a good one all you need to do is ( to save money )
fit an M4 head onto your bottom end
and the efi stuff will bolt on you will need the
TP inlet manifold /exhaust manifold and a good cat converter dissy and coil computer controllers and the wiring looms
also the air filter setup .... all of this will fit in the TM engine bay
the water bottle etc may be moved to the passengerside inner guard with a bracket

gearbox upgrade can be done later to save costs stay with the tm auto
to put in a TP for better ratios you will need the overdrive switch gear shift knob and
the gearboxe tcu and all the wiring loom and connections

hehe sounds too tehcnical for me :P but wouldnt be easier for me to add a efi mod to my carby engine? it should add a slight more peformance to it......

Another thing.......is my car worth doing up once i get mi full licence?

if your TM is a leaded fuel version
you need to change the head or have the TM head modified with harder valves/ guides

head to come off to do this

if unleaded then just fit the efi equipment etc
