Hi all!

I've got a few questions to ask.

I got one of those 2 din DVD/ TV sets for my car. The set has a 2 x 3.5mm plugs for the TV antenna. I'm currently shopping for an antenna that would fit my set. I've narrowed it down to 2 types of antenna both with boosters.

After looking around I found that there are 2 and 4 heads/ plugs for these types of antennas. My question is should I get a 4 head/jack antenna and split or unsplit them to a 2 head one to fit my unit. Or just get a 2 head antenna?

The problem is that a 4 plug antenna is more expensive and I don't want to spent more than I have to if a 2 jack antenna should work the same. Due to me channelling 4 plugs into 2 plugs.

So in my case as the DVD/ TV set has only 2 inputs for the antenna and if I get a 4 plug antenna and channelled it into 2 would the reception be the same as just using a 2 head antenna? The thing is that 2 plugs antenna have 2 antennas, while the 4 head ones have 4 antennas. With me using just 2 plugs in the end, would I benefit from having more antennas or there would be no difference with an antenna with just 2 heads?

Any one can help or knows stuff on antennas?

Really would appreciate some help! Thanx guys!

Cheers!

Errr sorry don't get you? Car antenna? You mean the radio antenna? Well I think TV antennas are different right? I'm not sure on these but don't car TV antennas have a plug/head and coiling as well? Something like that plus I think you need like at least 2 antennas to get good TV reception.

Mate, what ever you do, dont settle for a cheap car tv antenna. I have tried two so far. One that sticks to the window, and one that goes on the outside of the window. Both have been pretty crap unless your on top of a hill.

Thw whole 4 x 3.5mm plug thing. I think when you have four its so like you have a whole diversity thing happeneing, makes better picture. I only have 2 x 3.5mm plugs as well. Dont listen to the guy at autobarn, he reckons you cant use only two plugs you can. Just plug in the two and see how that goes..

CAR FM ANTENNA WONT WORK dont even try ahha.

Sorry you are saying that although my system has only 2 antenna inputs. It should be better to get the 4 antenna with 4 plugs and channel it down to 2 plugs as compared to just using the the 2 antenna system with 2 plugs??

Err not to sound rude but how sure are you?
Just that I don't want to spent double the amount and find out that its the same as using the 2 antenna with 2 plug ones.

Cheers!

nah its cool, im just speaking from my experience with my tv tuner in my car. The picture quality is really really bad if you buy a cheap antenna. But by cheap im talking $50 off ebay. The clarion one at Autobarn was $250. Works really well, just by plugging two of the four plugs in. No splicing. I guess you could just buy one with two plugs. It will probably be good anyway, just i guess you wouldnt wanna buy the two plug antenna then have to buy a better one again. like i did

ive just got the ones that came with my JVC TV Tuner that stick on the back window.. tv reception is pretty good.. does drop in and out depending on your surroundings though.. normally the picture is pretty good.. also think the window tint plays a small part in somewhat reducing the quality..

but back on TV antennas, mine has the 2 headphone type plug things that just plug straight in..

Thanx for that input! Well Yeah my dvd set should be the same at yours, 2 input plugs for the antennas. But like I said would an antenna with 2 plugs and 2 antenna (2 'rods' so to speak) compared to a 4 plugs antenna with (4 'rods') but using spliters to make it fit a 2 plug unit work better?

Anyone out there who knows about antennas? Really need help. Wanna get my dvd set installed, cannot wait to play with my new toy!

Cheers!
