Hi!
I drive a TH Magna Advance and looking to get the back chrome garnish for my car. Was wondering how much these things cost? Is $50 excluding postage too much?
Wonder how they looking on my greyish, silver colour TH? Has anyone done this or its usually done to older model cars?
Err also how do you fix this garnish in? Is it like a clip or glued?
Cheers!

Yeah but if the Garnish is far away and need to pay for postage, I might as well get one brand new anyways right?
Oh would anyone know how much brand new and 2nd hand the cost of those chrome Grills? I think it looks like the TE's Grill but with chrome and with netting inside of it.
Cheers?

yeah chrome garnishes look better on all coloured magnas :D
although, haven't seen one on a red car. that would be interesting
what chrome grill did you get offered? the one with the chrome "netting" inside is probably the TH Altera LS one, which i'd definately take for that price as they're 140 new and no longer available

Hi not sure if its the TH Altera one? but the buyer said it was around $200 new. I'll post a pic and tell me if this is worth it. Thanx!

Nah, that's a KE/KF Verada (or TE/TF Altera) grille and can often be had these days for less than $100 including postage. The TH Altera LS grille is what Asylum has on his car and is much rarer (hence more expensive) and IMO looks very sexy. I've been looking for one of these as well - anyone have one they want to pawn off? :)

But his grill is in white? Was it chrome and he sprayed it white? Whats the difference between my standard TH grill with the TH Altera one? Is it just the chrome colour?
Cheers

Yep!
FYI, here is what I believe is an accurate description of each 3rd gen grille.
Definitions:
Surround = the plastic frame that is the main part of the grille.
Keystone = the middle bit of the frame that usually has a Mitsubishi logo on it.
Insert = the pieces that are surrounded by the surround, when looking at the car from the front (one on the left and one on the right).TE/TF Exec grille:
Grey surround with red Mitsubishi logo on the keystone
Keystone has a curved appearance on the left and right sides
Black insert has oblique fins leaning left on the left and right on the right (makes a loose V shape)TE/TF Sports/Solara grille:
Body-coloured surround with red Mitsubishi logo on the keystone
Keystone has a curved appearance on the left and right sides
Black insert has oblique fins leaning left on the left and right on the right (makes a loose V shape)TE/TF Altera and KE/KF Verada grille (Ei, dunno about Xi but presumed similar)
Chrome surround with red or silver Mitsubishi logo on the keystone
Keystone has a curved appearance on the left and right sides
Black insert has oblique fins leaning left on the left and right on the right (makes a loose V shape),Not too sure whether there WERE any differences between TE/TF Altera and KE/KF Verada .. anyone wanna confirm?
Anyway ... :)
TH Exec grille:
Grey surround with red Mitsubishi logo on the keystone
Keystone has a more angular appearance on the left and right sides than on the TE/TF
Insert is black with a mesh shape (crisscross)TH Sports/Solara grille:
Body-coloured surround with red Mitsubishi logo on the keystone
Keystone has a more angular appearance on the left and right sides than on the TE/TF
Insert is black with a mesh shape (crisscross)TH Altera LS grille:
Body-coloured surround with red Mitsubishi logo on the keystone (if your Altera is metallic green, the grille surround will be green ... etc)
Keystone has a more angular appearance on the left and right sides than on the TE/TF
Insert is silver/chrome-coloured with a mesh shape (crisscross)I'm not familiar enough with the subtle differences between the grilles of the KH Verada range, but suffice to say that:
Chrome surround with red/silver Mitsubishi logo on the keystone
Keystone has a more angular appearance (I think) on the left and right sides than on the KE/KF
Insert usually consists of chromed horizontal fins with notches in themHope this helps. :)

Yeah it took a little while. :D I've been around Magnas for a loooong time now (my parents had a '91 TR Elite first, then they got a '96 Exec, then *I* bought a '90 TP SE, and upgraded it 3 years ago to a TH Solara ... my brother has an '02 TJ VRX, and my parents now have an '03 TL ES .. :blah: :)) So I guess I've been able to observe the differences over time, especially since externally there wasn't much change from the TE/TF to the TH, apart from the grille, tail lights, wheels and paint options.

Yeah, I believe TE/TF/TH grilles are all interchangeable. I like to keep my car looking like a TH so would not replace the standard grille with anything other than a TH/KH. However, that's just my opinion - you can do whatever you like with your car, and the reality is most people prolly won't notice the difference between a TH grille and the grille you've shown us, apart from the fact that it's chrome of course. ;)

Man you guys are the Manga Family! Ha ha!! Well yeah I get wat you mean in keeping the car a TH series but yeah I like chrome and this was or is the cheapest way to get them I think ha ha. By any chance would you know how much a standard TH grill would cost brand new and 2nd hand prices as well?

Yeah we like our Magnas (well I do, at least. :)) Well if you like chrome then yeah, that is prolly the easiest way to get it... the TH Altera grilles are quite hard to come by; I hardly see any TH Alteras on the road let alone grilles for them in the wreckers .. and they were around $140 new when I last checked, and not even available now. :(

I couldn't tell you - the easiest way to find out for a new one is ring your local Mitsubishi dealer and ask them. :) As for second-hand, most wreckers seem to sell ones in good nick for around $40, but occasionally someone slaps one on the For Sale/Wanted forum on here...
