I have been looking to upgrade the brakes on my KR V6 Non ABS and after reading this thead (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20003) I am now even more confused.
I understand that the ABS wagons run a larger vented rear disc (284mm x 20mm)
So will this bolt up to my KR?
And is this the same setup RPW provides? (http://www.rpw.com.au/shop/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=324&category_id=108&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=31)
For the front I was just going to use a set up ABS Twin pots on a set up trick disc's, Does the KR have the largest discs factory avalible?
Is the factory disc 276mm?
I also have seen the RPW front upgrade (http://www.rpw.com.au/shop/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=321&category_id=108&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=31) that uses a 295mm disc but the calipers looks like the factory twin pot, does anyone know anything about this setup?
Does DBA make the 5000 2piece series to fit a KR?
I have 18" wheels so i do have a fair bit of room to fill up.

Edit: just answered my own Q' DBA does not do a 5000 series only the 4000 series

In all honesty all you need to do is swap your front calipers for ABS twin piston calipers, change the front discs to slotted and use a stronger compound pad.

This is exactly what I did and it works very VERY well. There's no real need to go any further than that. And I did it all for under $300

Yes, just grab a set of front calipers from the KS v6 with ABS and fit some slotted rotors.
Also may want to fit the rear rotors from the KS v6 with ABS as these are slotted to
provide extra cooling. As I already had the calipers, all I did was fit DBA slotted rotors to
the front with Lucas pads. And I tell you, you can feel the bite.

And its dead simple:)
Just need a good pipe spanner.
Also you need to use the slightly larger brake hoses from the KS aswell.
Cost me $30 for my conversion thanks to some very nice people from AMC.

yeh this is all well but i was thinking about going the larger dics (RPW) on the front with the larger dics off the wagon

Please get ABS to make proper hoses as the KS ones are different on both ends to the KR, the flare is different and although appears to fit can fail.

KB will attest to thsi as he saw mine and had some also made up for him.

As for the rears, just use the vented rears from the abs model also. For street use this will be more than sufficient, as I have proven many a time around the Reefton and Black spurs in Vic.

This set up will allow a human to cleanly pass through the windscreen on heavy braking

I'll definitely attest to that Mal :) The difference is amazing. I think I remember saying when you demo'd the brakes to me: "I never thought I'd be so excited about slowing down" lol
