Can someone tell me if theres any differences --"cosmetically"-- between TJ, TJ MY02 and TJII?

i know theres quite a bit of differeces in mechanical and gears etc... and did the 3.0 share the same tranny as the 3.5?

No it doesn't :).
Main differences are:
tiptronic auto, digital odometer, slightly more powerful engine, i think ABS came standard as well. Think there are a couple of other smaller ones.

Mine's a 06/02 TJ sports, i think that makes it a MY 02?, not really sure because it has the digital odometer which i thought was exclusive to TJ II, that's what confuses me, infact the only difference between mine and a TJ II sports is the 'series 2' badge.

My car was built 07/02 and is a series 2 but doesn't have the badge. The only sure way to find out is to call up mitsubishi and give them your VIN, they will tell you in 5 seconds exactly what your car is.
Personally i thought the series 2 started in 07/02.

TJ Series 1 - 3.0 and 3.5

Release Date 01/08/2000
Discontinued Date 01/08/2001

TJ MY02 - 3.0 and 3.5

Release Date 01/09/2001
Discontinued Date 01/08/2002

TJ Series 2 - 3.5 only

Release Date 01/08/2002
Discontinued Date 01/05/2003

For the Executives:

Exterior differences were the Series 2 badge on the boot lid and different wheel covers

Exterior differences between the 3.0 and 3.5 was the 3.5 badge on the front quarter panels near the side indicators. The 3.0 had no badge there.

My car has a build date of 07/02 and is definitely a series 2, so could it be possible that they built some before they officially released it?

Yep, seems to be the only explanation, makes sense in my case as well, officially going by the dates it's a MY 02 but in reality it's a TJ II minus the badge.

I'd say so, it would make sense to have some Series 2 built before the offical release date.

Those vehicles that seem to be between Series' are not uncommon. We affectionatley refer to them as the 'Series 1.5'. Usually they upspec leftover models from a series as they release the new one.

so just how good is a TJ MY02 Advance, 3.5, 4 speed auto, electric windows, trip computer in the family tree of 3rd gens better then a tj series 1 verada but worse then a series 2 base model

Is that a statement or a question? Anyhow the advance would be better than the exec but
would be nowhere near as good as the Verada.

Also, My dad has the series II TJ Exec with the 4spd tippy, elec windows and the trip comp
in the dash.
