Aye
Just got a few quotes and recommendations from muffler guys about what to do with my magna. First guy I went to said the 2.25" was fine for the magna and for $110 he'd just change out the last section of piping with a straight through sports muffler. Talked to another guy and he said he'd go 2.5 cat back with i dunno what for mufflers for $270. Is it worth getting the 2.5 catback or will it be better to just get the straight through at the back? Kinda aiming for the coolest sound.

it would be worth getting the 2.5 catback, it will sound a lot better + it will give you a bit more power, i've got a 2.5 cat back, no boxes and a silenced cannon

Stick with the stock system. 2.25" can easily flow more than you need..the muffler is the restriction in the system. For a good sound, invest in a quality muffler like a magnaflow...there is no substitute.

yeah i agree, the stock systems on the magnas are pretty good already, my mate just changed the rear muffler and it sounded loud as and good, not drony or anything, i got redback system on mine, with one of the mufflers that came with it chopped out

Don't waste your money on a cat back, just get the muffler replaced.

Change the rear muffler.
This is the difference between the standard and Sports/ VRX models.
From memory this on change is worth about 5kW.

yea they quote 5-7kw at the fly with a straight-through muffler though is this is true beats me, it is the most restricting part of the exhaust system so I can't see why it wouldn't improve your performance with a swap. But yea I'd just go with the muffler (thats what I'm doing) then if you want more power get some extractors and you'll be sweet

I was told by a very credible source on magna exhausts, that the best things you can do are:
Extractors
High flowing cat
and replacing the rear muffler.
All with keeping the stock piping (which as said before is pretty decent).
The main problem with doing a cat-back system is alot of people forget or just don't put in a middle muffler/resonator, so the car drones like a mofo.

You're still not looking at fantastic gains, but it's the best way IMO for a standard motor.
