I'm up for 4 new tyres, did the ol' search & was starting to lean towards the Bridgestone RE92's, but... some started saying they aren't/weren't much good - & - they were old topics

So...

Whats the recommendations(sp?) these days for 14's? (not that it should matter, but stock TS Wagon)
The main reason I'm asking is because I haven't had to buy tyres for near 20 yr's :D no license = no car, so I'm way out've touch with what's what & you folks know your stuff
Price is mid-range to half way to the top
Most driving is Hwy

Fronts are/were:- Kelly P185/75R14 89H Navigators 800 S
Receipt shows they were put on 05/04/05 & they've done (approx) 35000 k's (we put 30000k's on them)

Rears are/were:- Olympic P185/75R14 89H Marathon II
No receipt but were on the car when we bought it (as above, we put 30000k's on them)

So my lovely gurus, what would be your suggestions please?

TYI :)

What you looking for in a tyre? Max grip, long life or general all rounder. I fitted a pair of Pirelli P6000's to my TS Wagon and have been pretty pleased with them so far as I good all rounder. Lot better grip in the wet. Done about 25000 Kms on them so far. My tyre size is 205 65 R15. Cost me $238 for the pair back in March. Would use them again.

TFBoy, I thought they were 15's to begin with, but seeing the "75R14" made me think I was wrong & they are 14's
I'll go and check the manual

All the above *LOL*
But I'd guess grip 'n all rounder, no point having long life if they're sitting on a banged up Maggie :)

*INFO UPDATE*
According to my Gregorys
Exec, GLX & SE = 14's
Elite = 15's

I've got the Exec, but thanks for pointing that out, something I didn't know...till now :)

agreed. they have some nice stuff
also, look at Kumho, and Falken as well.

they actually use 14" Kuhmo's as the 'control' tyre on the HQ Holden Racers these days, and are suprisingly good... on them anyway!!

i had Kuhmo's on a car a few years ago.
good grip, very well priced, but they did wear quicker than i thought they might.
but maybe that had more to do with how i drove on them.....:bowrofl:
the Falkens i use these days are brilliant. grip well, last pretty damn good considering, and while costing a bit more than a similar Hankook or Kumho, really werent too bad in the price dept.

the one problem with tyres, as DJ said, is if u want a tyre that lasts, then it wont be the best thing, grip wise, simply because it has to be harder rubber to last, and hard tyres dont grip, while a grippy tyre will do just that... grip, but will wear out quicker because to make a tyre grip, it has to be made from softer rubber.

personally, i dont think tyres arent really that expensive (especially for 14"), unless u get into the high end of the Bridgstone/Dunlop/Michelin cataloges.
IMHO, when compared to your safety, a grippy tyre is cheap, because it might just be the difference one day...
so i'd be more inclined to go the grip option, and replace them more often, than try and get 50-60,000 k (and yep, ive seen it done...) from a set and lose the grip.

i didnt confuse i hope!!

i've got toyo's on mine, and my fiance's barina, no issues whatsoever. in fact, they're one of the higher load and speed rated for the price
