this has been covered a thousand times maybe more :doubt:
it all depends on driving style
dont floor it everywhere and you shall see your economy shall improve
get yourself a K&N panel filter improves it abit
how bad is your economy? how many litres are you using per 100k's?
should be somewhere between 11-14 litres per 100k's
oh and welcome to AMC :)

i am having about 15L/100K but thats pure start stop situation though...
so other than the shell eco engine oil and K&N air filter nothing else could help??
Question.
-Can the magna engine take the 10w30 engine oil??
-I heard that K&n would cause flat spot at the low end and i really dont want that cause all i use is 3000rpm and below....
thanks...

thanks...
i have a flat spot below 3000rpm already but thats in a 3.0 V6... just drive it gently and u should be good... i get about 10ishL/100km most of the time and on some goood days with a bit less start stop i less than 10L/100km

does anyone has k&n airfilter panel on their 3.5?? does it has a flatspot?
ok would K&n air filter cause my fuel economy to increase since i would press the padel further when a flatspot occurs to compensate on it??

slight flatspot from my panel, keep ur airfilter clean it will do the same job, nothing but drving style unless u wanna fork out money for a piggyback and for it to be tuned, ofcourse then the cost outweighs the savings unless u plan on being a deliv driver for awhile
barry's fuel rail kit helps slightly too and obviously keeping ur car in tip top shape and driving normally rather than flooring it everywhere

I doubt you'd notice much if any difference in power/economy with a k&n, but to answer your question i have a k&n in my 3.5 TJII and have no such flat spot.

One problem, your delivering pizzas, kiss the fuel ecomony good buy. I used to be one in my area, I would use half a tank over a weekend no worries at all... averaging in excess of 15L... No matter what you put on ya car it wont improve delivering pizzas

Change to a manual transmission.
This should give you about 20% better fuel economy.
Otherwise the best things to do will cost a fair bit.
Modified intake manifold - $1200 - ouch
Extractors - $500 ish
ECU - get a piggy back and have it tuned for mid range and economy.
These 3 together AND driven sensibly should give you about 10% better.
I just wish there was an easy way to a manual for an AWD!!!

Doing start/stop delivery work in a large sedan is a very bad thing to do. Better to drive a
little excel or the like.

having a high tyre pressure should aid fuel economy - something like 38psi

Yup.
You'll probably find you'll save alot of money by buying a 2nd car such as an old corolla or something that is a little 4 banger, can pick them up in good cond with rego for 3-500 bucks. Cheaper than modding your car to get a slight increase if at all.

Change to a manual transmission.
This should give you about 20% better fuel economy.
Not always the case, my fathers partner has a 2003 series 2 TJ Sports Sedan, Manual 5 speed - I have a 2000 series 1 KJ Verada Wagon, 4 speed auto
We both have similar style driving, driving on similar roads, and we both achieve the same fuel average manual sedan v's auto wagon......
so having a manual doesnt always mean you will use less fuel......

Yep, especially if the auto is geared better like the 380s. The 380 auto actually uses less
fuel than the 380 manual.

LoLlol I do deliveries for dominos in my TF, first week I had mine it went ****, had to fill it after four days. But did a oil change to 15/50 and put nulon worn engine treatment in and the engine now goes sweet, average about 570-600km per tank. But yea just keeping your engine in good nick is usually the best method. Change your sparkies out to platnums, oil filter, fuel filter, good tyres, changing transmittion fluid etc...

easy!
1) park V6 at home
2) drive Domino's little buzzbox :P
Those little Echo/Yaris are great!
Had a little red 2dr manual for a day, trashed the bejesus outta it
for 400km+ and it only drank about 20L for all that fun.
What do you hafta to do get to drive the Domino-mobile?

Sacrifice your last remaining shreds of dignity :P
J/k - small cars are generally fun to drive and I've only ever heard good things about the Echo\Yaris.
