Ok here goes.

I have no idea wtf to do with my car (i have a little mechanical knowledge:redface:). DH is a mechanic and has done a few cars up but is a Ford boy so i think he isnt fully telling me what potential my car really has (worked that out after coming on AMC). He is kind of over doing cars up now, he's had his turn (hes 35 and had some pretty hot cars in the past) im 23 damn it i want a hot car

First off, how low can i go without getting too close to speed bumps? Im a mum and most of my kms are done in shopping centre carparks
Second of all, I want extractors & an exhaust but DH are having a slight disagreement on what size to go for? same thing, take note i have kids in the car, so i want it to sound hot, but not tooo hot iykwim. (may sound like a stupid question but those of you with big exhausts, how much noise do you get in the car?)
Motor wise i dont really want to muck around with it, only because it is a "family car" so everything i plan on doing will be "cosmetic" i'd say, but what do they run like on gas?

Ok i think im done...for now

Thanks :D Christie

my old car was 60mm lowered at front and 40mm at back and only thing i really scraped was tow hooks and mudflaps, never had much of a problem in carparks u just gotta be a bit more careful,

i cant comment on my car nowdays as its 60mm all round but the bodykit hits anything before anything else on the car

There is varying heights of lowering

Kings:
Low: 40mm
Superlow: 60mm
*you can only get superlow on the front*

Lovell
Low: 30mm
Superlow: 50mm

My advice is the lovells superlow all round, helps handling and looks hot

As for extractors and exhaust, depends what u get. Pacemakers are best bang for buck but if u have a 3L they will hang pretty low and u will scraped them if u are lowered, you dont have that problem on a 3.5L however. theres also RPW but more pricey and im sure there are other on the market

Exhaust 2.5" is the way to go, amount of resinators and whatnot again is personal choice my car only has 1 and i think it sounds hot, depends on what muffler u use. 3.5L come ut with 2.5" mandrel bent all the way thru whereas 3L only come with 2.25" so if u have a 3.5L i wouldnt really bother upgrading the piping just chuck a new, freer flowing muffler on the back

muffler is again personal choice, i had a lukey on my old 3L tf, sounded alright but not loud enuff for me (most ppl describe it as a slight growl in the upper rev range but apart from that not much change) my muffler now is a SuperX and i love it, loud enuff that i can just hear it in the cabin, doesnt have any farty noise slight drone at 2000rpm. Stay away from big cannons unless ur into that noise

as for gas wouldnt know

thought about rims too? u can pick up 17's pretty cheap these days, even 18's and really make a diff look to your car, and colour coding will make it look better too

Sorry just nitpicking but Kings lows are 45mm and lovell lows are 25mm. You also have the option of King lows SP(sport?) which are 30mm.
I agree with getting lovells superlows all round if you want the car at it's lowest point. Having the front lowered more doesn't look as good i reckon, sure you match the wheel arches, but the overall car doesn't sit right and it can negatively affect your handling.

As for exhaust, i say leave your stock piping and just upgrade the muffler. A full 2.5" system might drone abit too much, or if you can score the system off a 3.5 from someone who has upgraded recently that might be worth it too.

Ok can relate to this one as my car is the family car too - I dropped mine about 2.5" at the front and about 2" at the rear and yes it scrapes... going to take the mud flaps off and that should fix it up but I would suggest maybe just 2" drop if you do not want scraping and have to go near lots of humps...
I have a 2.5 cat back with pacemaker extractors and yes it is loud - the kids LOVE it but if you want something a bit quieter maybe look into different mufflers etc as my friend has an older magna that she has put a 2.5 cat back on and it sounds much quieter - I think they tried a couple before getting the right sound
Depends on what 'image' you want to create as to what you do with it I guess I am quite happy with the tag of rev head and my kids are just as excited about cars as I am but if you want to go with a more subtle approach - which seems that would please DH - then it is possible just shop around a bit

Yeah both my boys 3 & 4 year old have cars running through there blood like there dad so i know they wouldnt care if it were loud, but hopefully having another one this year.

I get those looks too, window sox on the rear windows with a "baby on board" sign, dont look good when your flying around a corner...lol kid free of course

lol
Unless you go peering intot he car to see the baby seat with the 18 month old in or see my 3yo bopping around to the stereo then you would never guess that our car is a family car with kids in - who cares what other peole think as long as you like it and the new one will probably be fine with whatever you decide on too as they get used to and will not know anything else anyway...
Don't let being a mum curb your creativity

*note to self, Crank sterio up very loud to help newborn adapt to loud noise*

And when the baby screams and will not sleep and you can not stop just crank the stereo so loud that they can not scream over the top of it - either shuts 'em up or basically you just can nto hear 'em anymore!
Also I think having two 12" subs helps massage them to sleep!

Speaking of kids and magna's...This is prob for all that have em (Kids that is), how do u find the boot space for all the kid crap (Prams, bags etc etc)??... I think Im gunna have to get rid of the subs :( either that or find a good cover for em.

Has anyone gone from a 3rd gen into a 380 and found it better (Boot wise)??...

Reason Im asking, Sometime this year were looking at starting a family, I want to keep my car but I think boot space will be lacking. When the TMR380 eventually arrives I'll be seriously looking in purchasing one (hence the question bout the 380)..

Any thoughts?....go right ahead

Sounds like nagging husband to me.
Well I have a 6month old and went from compressed superlows to superlows because of my daughter and the ride is very nice (even with 18's)
Tell your husband its your car and you'll do what you want.
I have a 2.5" cat back and my baby cant sleep without the exhaust :P
Ready to have a kit put on too :D

Proud to be a mumma with a hot car (imo)

First of all....taylor your children to suit your car, get a pram to suit your boot. rofl

I have 2 kids and had a double pram, and most week 1.5 weeks worth of shopping in it, cartons of coke, bulk nappies etc etc and i got it all in with a big box & 2x12" subs, so i am sure you will find a way to fit it in somewhere! Some of my **** goes in the backseat on the floor too lol.

Ok here comes a pain in the ass question, can someone show me pics of the wheel arch? a Magna at 2.5" and one at 2"?

DH said if i go more than 1" its a pain in the ass some **** about camber kit?

[THUGDOUT]

should have to worry about camber kit really, its not a commodore and it wont wear tyres like one lol but u can get one AFAIK

my old car with a 60mm/40mm kings combo

http://members.iinet.com.au/~simonrod/AM-pics/magna2.jpg

sorry not best pic

new car with 60mm all round

http://members.iinet.com.au/~simonrod/Magna/Motorvation-010.jpg

again not best pic

its all i got

get lovell all round, bit higher then kings, just as reputable as kings and u will get an even lowering job. I disliked my Kings on my first car because the car always looked uneven (ass sticking up)

Not that much a pain in the ass, just u will scrape ur towhooks n mudflaps (mudflaps are simple job to fix, just remove them!) and some kerbs when parking (again towhooks)

n just chuck a muffler on the back :)
