I'm trying to tackle a stereo installation lol
How do I do it, going off the 3rd gen installation guide? :doubt:

Also, what single pockets do people use when removing teh double DIN and installing a single DIN stereo ?

if your going to replace the double din unit with a single din unit
then your going to need a single din pocket from a magna/verada with climate control
should be able to get one from the wreakers cheap

Any single din pocket from a Verada/Magna with climate control will do?

If I have trouble sourcing one, will a genuine one do?

Do you have a part number for the item?

if your car has climate control than yes any manga/verada with climate control will be fine
dont know how much it will cost from mitsubishi but it would be some crazy amount
your next best option would be jb hifi

sorry thought u only wanted the ash tray out, heres a pic of 1 removed so u can see where the clips are. pull it out as far as it goes and reach behind the tray and pull forwards. dont use the handle on the tray otherwise it will rip free.

I have PMed Mohit regarding a part number and cost for the genuine tray he sourced.

If anyone else knows the # and $... greatly appreciated so I can get the ball rolling

Hey guys, I am trying to remove the ash tray thing from my Verada KH (2000), but aren't having any luck. I don't want to break anything!

It's the one that doesn't have the lighter socket exposed, it is integrated into the sliding thing. Anyone know how to get it out without damaging it?

you know how you open your ash tray, like when you put coins and stuff in there.... or ash?

well immagine a psycho has murdered your family then open it!

open as normal (assuming console is removed, as it is in your pics) then keep pulling! needs force

there are 2 clips one in the top corner on eash side of the whole unit!

it simply unclips.... easy!! :D

Yeah its been a while since I have taken a 3rd gen apart...

Take the centre bit out like in the pic. As andrewd said there are 2 clips on the top. It feels like it gets stuck. You may need to GENTLY force it out with a flat head inbetween the 2 clips, helps to separate the panels. Unplug the ciggy lighter.

From there you lift up the centre bit that holds you headunit from the bottom and it will start to come away. You will need to undo the screws at the top to release the climate / air con unit. Unplug the hazard lights and you should be ready to undo the 4 screws that hold the headunit in :D

Those pocket things that you use cost about $30 Aerpro make them. Put one in a GTV after we took the double din unit out ( deck adn stacker ) and put in a Pioneer deck.

Well with a bit more courage I was able to get the ash tray out no problem.
