Take-off of the better brand Soundstream... So essentially the home brand of car audio. Below Boss.

I wouldnt bother personally. But someone may have good experiences

They look great, but as tim said they are even cheaper than BOSS gear. If it comes with a warranty it couldn't hurt to try their headunits, but their speakers are quite ordinary.

id steer clear, like said before, very budget stuff, rip off of soundstream, go to jb and check out some of the jvc gear, they got some nice headunits with usb ports, im heaing there today to get some fuses so ill have a look, also strathfields depending on where you are

EDIT: just back from jb, they have a pretty large range of jvc decks with usb inputs, the cheapest one i saw was the KD-G725 for $317... but you could probably talk them down

Thanks guys
I was originally going to get a JVC KDG-725. Priced them a couple of weeks ago at jb and i am pretty sure they were below 300. I am sure they were $279, might have been a special. Anyway i was at strathfield today and the guy suggested soundstorm.
Think i will take your advice and stick to the jvc.
Thanks for your help
Cheers Damo
PS bob_s sorry about the rant, it was late:redface: No excuse really

Have a soundstorm. Yeah, agree, it's budget entry stuff. Can play mp3, wma and burnt cds.

One big problem that I get irritated is that the HU has no memory when you turn off the car, it starts playing the track at the start again and not where you have left off.

USB and mem card slot are not too bad. But if the HU can play mp3s, don't really need the usb port.

Hmmm sure its wired up correctly? With the battery to the battery and not the ignition?

(or maybe they are just cheap)

Peace

Definately want a usb port so i can plug in a flash drive. Much more useful for me as i keep around 30 gigs of music on my hard drive and plug my laptop in to my home stereo. Cant be stuffed burning to disc. with a 2 gig flash drive it makes it easy to update and change whats on there as i am constantly given new music.
cheers

Hmm, think they are just cheap. Cuz when it was in my old car, I had the same problem/situation. Unless you want to point the finger at halucin8. Cuz he did the installation

I think its just the cheapyness. Me and my dad bought my mum a cheap HU off ebay, cant remember brand, its not soundstorm tho, it doesnt have a ripoff brand name. We payed $51 for it so cant complain. Anyway this HU does a very similar thing, when you turn the car on again the stereo starts playing the same song as it was when it was turned off but earlier in the track, by about 15 seconds or so. Although now come to think of it i dont think my Pioneer 3550MP HU in my old accord plays the song at the exact same point as when the car turns off, hrmm. Ill check both systems tomorrow.

I just had one on these JVC KDG-825 installed last week and I rate it highly, goood functions, gives full menu options to navigate through files on the flash drive. Would only recommend to try and get a short (in length) Flash Drive as it can be a bit of an obstruction at times, otherwise it all good:D
