Apparently you don't need to remove the heads if you're not changing the valve springs.. that's all I know.

the factory manual does not say you need to remove the heads. here it is. hope it helps. I have my car in getting cams atm. But i am paying for it:nuts: seals and o'ring as per the illustration, however the rocker cover gaskets are reusable

The Gregeorys manuals are full of crap... ive done 4 sets of cam changes on late model magnas including 2 on mine.
The cams slide out from the passengers side of the engine.
The thermostat/water inlet/outlet housing and distributer must be removed from that side as well as removing the inlet plenum, rocker covers, rocker shafts with the rockers, also the timing belt must be taken off the cam sprockets but doesnt have to be removed from the car so there is no need to remove the driverside engine mount then the cam sprockets need to be unbloted from the cams as well (or you can cable tie the belt to the sprockets and remove the sprockets from the cams only but thats the bodgey way of doing it.) then the cams are slide out of the heads towards the passengers side of the car.
Thats just a really quick run down on what needs to be taken off to remove the cams.

No, just a good toolkit will do the job.
It would pay for you to get hold of the factory workshop manual if your unsure on anything. I have it on CD ROM and i use it to double check somethings occasionally.
