I used to... Depends what you want it for.

They are built like tanks. The loudest subs on the planet and destroy in terms of SPL.

What model are you after?

I've used the entry level DD1012 and the better DD3512. How much power have you got to throw at them?
pics of the old subs...

tough as nails subs and amps... dollar for dollar against alpine, pioneer etc...(output wise) like tim said they destroy.... not bad sq either.... they aint that pretty (unless you got a 9512 with cf dust cap, love that magnet:P ) but they go like the clappers, if you got the money go for it, just make sure you got the power

yeah i'm gettin a set of 2012's and i wanted to know what everyone else thought.
Sasha and Paul at Motoquipe Colonaides (Not sure if thats how you spell it) are hooking me up, and most people in SA should know where that is. they are 1000 WRMS i think so i'm gonna get a really really big mono Block as well.

I would recommend an individual DD3512 over the pair of 2012's. Will prob handle more power as well.

yeh, 3512 with 2000rms, will go harder, and wont be working the amp to full capacity, 3512 is 1600rms iirc

dd make good subs and amps if you wanna go below 1 ohm, i personaly think alot of there stuff is overpriced, but i guess it's each to there own, (example dd z1 3000wrms @1 ohms vs orion hcca-d5000 2,500wrms@1 ohm orion is around $700 cheaper)

i'll probabaly cop a flogging over this comment but hey thats the way i see it,

(hence while i have 2x h210.2 2000wrms for ralliartgals wagon and HCCA-d5000)

I think their subs are pretty reasonably priced for what they are... Not the biggest fan of their amps. And would tend to agree that there are better value for money amps out there.

Peace

Tim

dd z1..... 3000rms at 1 ohm, 5000rms at .5ohm then theres the ddz2, 6000rms at 1 ohm, and you dont have to go under 1 ohm, subs come in every coil configuration imaginable, even if you get dual .5's theres 1ohm for daily use and load it down to .5 for burps..... oh and im pretty sure the z1's and z2's are .5ohm stable

speaking of a z2 have anyone seen the price on these? retail is $4999 !!!!!!

but yeah personally i would only run there subs,

(autobarn now sells dd so no other large chain can sell dd now)

If you want to go loud... Their subs are unbeatable...

There are nicer sounding subs though, the DD's are all suited to ported boxes that are tuned to around 45hz. At this frequency they are amazing... But they struggle below the ported frequency. I had mine playing in a smaller sealed box and they didn't play anywhere near as low as other subs I've heard. They arent as clear and a bit rough around the edges I found.

I'd be looking at phoenix gold, treo, diamond, RE and ID before looking at the DD's again. But Im after straight SQ. For a sub that can take a beating DD is the shot.

Peace

Tim

I've never had a good listen tbh, I've seen a few blasting out the back of cars though. They look good :)

*starts loading his rifle* hehe

nah DD is good if you dont mind spending a crap load of money on power, batteries and cabling.. but there are so many better subs out there that will run off lower power and still get loud as hell.

take the RE SX for example, give a 15" 1000W RMS in a decent ported box and youll be pulling a good 143dB in a magna, which is freakin awesome.

pfff... like you'd know lol.... in the end mate you'r just going to have to go and have a listen, let your ears decide, but like woob said, there are many subs out there just as capable... i love my L7's... maybe give them a listen
