Nice article. Saw it ages ago! I never knew he was a member here.
That car definitely needs some paras and exterior goodies hehe

Hey, why did they say:

"It’s great to meet somebody who, A – is brave enough to modify a Magna and, B – knows when to quit!"

Doesn't sound very nice~

Its too hard cos of the V configuration. It would be easier to make it twin turbs, which is gettin to the point of ridiculous-ness-ism-esque-ish.

ummm the GT3000 is TT and it is a 6g74 which is the same block as our SOHC 12v but DOHC 24v Heads
i would say you could do it...
if i had the cash and time i would :) 4 sure..
anyone with spare cash interested in a pilot?

Errrrm why is twin turbo ridiculous:confused:
Less lag for the same boost pressure as a single system, easier in a transverse V, possibly slightly more expensive than a big single due to having to buy 2 turbos, but not really much in it I would think.

From what I can gather the problem with the 2nd gens is that the rear turbo from the 3000GT/GTO's won't fit in due to a different firewall. It's probably possible to replace the firewall in the 2nd gen with one from a GTO as the engine bays seem to be of similar dimensions. But then again the GTO's would have a cutout for the transmission to the rear.

I personally don't understand why people seem to always go for a big single in sixes/eights, when a twin will give the a similar peak power but heaps more mid/bottom end power.

The point I'm making is the torque and power through the front wheels in a twin turbo magna would be extreme and it would really only be of benifit in a straight line. Infact it would probably be quite undrivable. We woulod be talking over 200fwhp (ie 3000gt) and all sorts of extra work would need to be done to the car in order to compensate.

250fwhp... approaching 200kwatw, which wouldn't be that bad you control the power with your right foot. Yeah the problem is putting the 400nm or so of troque that is developed very early; ie nearly made at 1500rpm. If you like driving cars enough you won't car especially once you're in 2nd and hammering along.

I'm searching for more power at the moment.

In the later model GTO/3000GT's, wasn't there a 6G72 with mivec which helped with an extra 5-10kw?

No MIVEC in the 3000GT's.
