well guys, i had a bad day on the car scene, i was going to buy a vl stationwagon, pristine example, probably one of the best around originality wise. anyway, it had been advertised for about 6-8 months, and i looked at it on sunday, went away, thought it over, ofered 1g cash on tuesday, he rejected and on thursday, [today] i rang to offer the full price of 1400.
and it was gone.
after 8 months it came down to a 24 hour period i lost iot in.
well anyway, rego and tyres and a windscreen are all coming up for the ts so i wont be looking at another vl for a while, which hurts a lot because it is a dream car for me like a ts is for some of you.
anyway i have decided that this week the magnabator gets dumped!!
cutting the springs drop the fron to the legal limit, maybe lower, [what is it in VIC?]
making the indicators clear [amber light replacement.]
might source some 380 side blinkers aswell.
apart from that, i think i will spray the rims gloss black and take the hubbies off, take some 'hearing protection must be worn' stickers off, and finally
coloured parkers.
that should be a good day of work.
what else should i look at doing fellas?
there is a verada in town at the wreckers with all the trick bits and verada rims, i am thinking maybe verada lights and grille.
i know the lights are different, are they better? [these ones are darker... u know what i am meaning.. i hope?] as opposed to the ts exec ones.
maybe some wood grain trim,
what else should i do?
opening suggestions box... now!

ok, a couple of questions -
1. parabolics, are they what i have? [with the light reflecting off of the lines in the glass?]
if so should i replace these with verada items, or would it be a downgrade? i think it is a verada based off of the tr model [can anyone tell me what that would be? and what the verada based from the ts is?]
2. i read that someone 'removed resonators' sweet how do i do this where are they? such a noob question i know but hey, i have only done work on holden hr's [apart from general servicing] and a bit of work here and there, none on the magna mechanically though.
3. i forgot to mention i will grab the verada door pods woot.
Providing the verada you are looking at stealing bits from is a KS, it will have the parabolic headlights you are after. It's not necessarily a downgrade or upgrade, but it does look way better day and night. If you can get the indicators and the grille to go with it, bonus.
Don't remove your resonator. Do a search on wikipedia and read about it.
You can source 380 side blinkers from your local mitsu dealer, they should be around $20, if my memory is correct.
These are some good starting mods. May also want to look at a performance exhaust?

Hey mate...
1. Parabolics are the lights found on the KS radas, you have standard headlights. The upgrade to parras is mainly a personal taste thing.. if you like the look then why not?
2. http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27819&highlight=intake+resonators
See that thread.
Basically, big black plastic bottles located on the intake pipe, unclamp & remove; block remaining holes on the intake. (as i recall, members have used various makeshift plugs, anything from; mccormics spice container lids, gatorade/powerade bottle lids, cut mdf, to brass welsh plugs i think i can recall.)
3. Good-o :D. Rada pods/pockets are much nicer than standard.
Be careful with the colour of your parkers.. the vic cops are starting to get quite picky. :doubt:
Other mods you can do are things like; tint tail lights (if you're a fan of that... i'm not), paint interior bits n pieces, colour code various parts (ie, mirror casings, wiper arms, etc.), piss off mudflaps if you have em, mesh grill?, interior/exterior lighting (neons, ccfl's, led's), theres more... just cant think of many atm. I'll repost if i think of others.

Think he was talkin about intake resonators... but yeh exhaust is a good point if you're willing to spend a couple of hundred.
Other good items to flog off verada: Tail lights, interior map lights, seats (if electric)...

Please, please, please; whatever you do, do not cut the springs. These cars are already fairly softly sprung, reducing the travel and not increasing the spring rate would not be a good idea. If you are a little short of cash I have heard that you can get your springs compressed professionally for less than the cost of replacement springs.
